Its not bad here either, looks promising enough!

Good. I'm away to get ready now and try to get Holly to have a nap. And to stop her blowing raspberries as her chin is going red and spotty with all the saliva!

Does anyone else have a baby who either sneezes or blows raspberries during breakfast each morning?! I am continually covered in porridge!!!

Have a nice day everyone. x

Molly coughs out oatmeal all the time and I'm perpetually covered in it. Now the weather's good enough, I feed her while in my underwear. When it's warmer still, she'll be nudey buff too. Saves on laundry.

Family trip to Ikea today! Lunchtime meatballs FTW!!!

And some work, and OH has to tart up his CV and cover letter and send them over for formal consideration. I'm so excited!!!

On cars: I am very jealous of all you car-buying types  I bought a Daewoo (surprisingly nice, honest) new 10 years ago, but it is definitely getting close to its last legs now.
I get a car allowance from work (just as a perk, not because I need to drive for work) but I drive so little that it's really not worth giving up the cash to have a company car. I ought to buy something fairly new and more child-friendly and spacious and safe, but I am still hoping forlornly to save up a mortgage deposit at some point... (though I should probably be trying harder at this).

So I feel like I shouldn't buy something when it'll set a mortgage back another year or something and I do still have a car that is technically working! Bah!

I used to work for Daewoo when I first graduated from Law School  See where my expensive education got me ;) I only applied for the job because they advertised that you got a company car being a receptionist and I wanted a Matiz!!! I got a brand new Lanos, S reg (it was 1999) in a lovely bright red. I was sad to leave the job, just because I had to give the car back!!

I had a company car for the first 4 years or so of this job, then I changes to an allowance so I would have a car to show for it at the end of my contract.

Tara - some insurance companies do take years driving company cars into account for your no claims.

    Hello,

Thought I would graduate to the parent thread as my baby is a week old today! Sophie was born on the 13th April via c-section, we only got out of hospital on Sunday as I wasn't very well after she was born.

    Jolene

Welcome Jolene!! Any chance of a piccie?? We like to coo over teeny tiny babies!

Aless - your situation sounds similar to mine, I fell into this job whilst temping and seem to have built a healthy career on the back of it!

regards the CT...i think everyone should fill in the form and even if you get £5 a week its better in your pocket than filling the government's pockets. from the looks of it we wont get WTC but because of childcare we will get more CT.
i'll take whatever they offer :D

    Quite agree Jillie

I have car allowance as well Bruno as not worth having a car when I live so close to London.

New cars are a waste of money anyway :p

Pay £12k, a few years later sell it for 7k or something.

Me: buy banger for £250, if it's still alive in a few years, sell it for £250.

    :D

What you do is buy one thats less than a year old, that way some other mug/the garage have paid the 17.5% tax on it and you get it for whats its actually worth. Got my £11K car for £8.5K :money:

    Fitzio/CSH - Have a lovely day :)
Fitzio - J was only 17lbs 10z last week (think it was 31 weeks) but doesn't feel that much lighter than my friends LO who is 20lbs 4oz!

Lovely day here and according to my weather station  it shall remain so definitely a walk to tiny stars in the new pushchair!

Boo - *picks herself up off the floor* Hadn't realised it was a 10am start *faints again* but no problem re picking you up. Just let me know which station and me and J will be there.

SS - exciting news about Oh and don't think I commented on Molly's picture, she looks stunning.

I'm of the opinion that if you want something then you can get it but you have to work hard to get it, I worked !!!!!! jobs for years until I found a job doing admin in a doctors surgery. I worked 10hr days even though I only got paid for 7.5, this was seen and I was encouraged to apply for a deputy managers position after just 18months. At 21 I was the youngest person that worked there but I knew more about the running of the place than people who had been there for 20years and just stuck at the same job day in day out.

SM - If you don't know what you want, why not try focusing on bettering yourself in your current job? I know you don't particularly like working there but if you went into work with a really positive attitude (not saying you don't already) and tried to really, really, really excel yourself while you were there (going over the top with customer service, offering to help out when short staffed, during QUIET periods asking if there's anything else you could be getting on with but doign this every day) then after a while your boss will notice this so when you have a review you could ask for more responsibility or even to do some work-based courses.
Its not all about going to college - I've done NVQ's in Business Admin & Management whilst working and there are loads of other things you could ask to do like becoming a first aider for the work place or going on a Health & Safety course.

    Hope that helps xx
