thanks for the cup recommendations - Annabel doesn't seem that enamoured by her new cup but is slowly getting the hang of it - it is definitely harder than a normal straw and carton!

buggy purchase advice needed! okay ladies you pushchair adicts have another to add to your midst. I'm buying a stroller for using on holidays/bus journeys and when I don't want to take my bugaboo cameleon. I've decided on a MacLaren Quest. Mothercare have a promotion on and John Lewis have price matched it for £125. At motherare I can get a further 10% off using a code and free delivery. I have £45 of JL vouchers and get free delivery. However the colour way I really wanted is being discontinued and more expensive at £150 (not on promotion) but could still use either set of vouchers. However, I've now just found the design I want online at a reputable shop for £125 (but have no money off promotions or vouchers to use).

Now, I can afford to spend the full amount, but love to think I've got a really good deal/bargain/saved what I can.

what would you ladies do??????

If it was me, I would buy the colour I wanted online, then spend the JL vouchers in Waitrose on groceries. That way you get the buggy at the better price but you're using the vouchers on something practical rather than another splurge, if that makes any sense!


csh- I definitely like the inflatable paddling pool idea best! That way you could either use it with the balls in or without, then in the garden later in the year.

This is about a mile away from me, between my house and gym http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/8606781.stm. I'm so sad for the families of the firemen. My hubby attended it as he was on shift last night- I'm just so, so grateful he came home this morning . I can't imagine if he'd gone off to work and never come back.

Beenie- if you're around we love you and miss you!

Nursery was very nice. Lovely big garden and good facilities. Still need to see some more and some child minders though.

its about the only thing i can use apart from travel cot/cot upstairs, she shouts at me now though when she sees me getting it ready she gets angry ha, i use the travel cot sometimes but like you say it bugs me cos it makes the place look untidy, i cant even leave her in her highchair she can get the straps off and i nearly had a heart attack the other day when i caught her ready to jump out:eek: she is a nightmare wont leave anything alone, just while ive wrote this shes grabbed my mobile twice, she knows how to unlock it and has rung my brother cos he was the last call lol!! jake left the baby gate open n she fell down a couple of steps, i blame OH for that one tho cos i was outside moving the car and he was sat on his arris!!

Rmac - I would get the colour I wanted, especially as there isn't actually that much differece in price:)

csh - I have seen some baby bean bags, they have a kind of harness attached so they don't fall off/out. Would that be any good for you, although I think they are quite pricey. I personally would go for the travel cot idea...you can buy smallish ones so they don't take up to much room, just shove it in a corner if it isn't going to be used for hours at a time. I definitely think you need to use it sooner rather than later though as once he is properly mobile you will have a nightmare getting him to adjust to using it....best to do it as young as possible. I allow Kai to roam, but there is nothing he can hurt himself on/damage, we don't even have a coffee table and our nest of tables are jammed between the fireguard and the small sofa as they are stopping little fingers pulling wires!!
i suppose as we had kids from an early age and within a year of moving into our own house, we have never had a posh fully interior decorated house iykwim, I suppose for people who have it is a hard adjustment to make.

Link no worky! Phones and remote controls are also a favourite here. He stops what hes doing and grabs at it with a wicked glint in his eye

MFD we decided after a little chat that no tv for a week was sufficiant he doesnt really go out to play so grounding him was no good and removing toys was a bit useless as it was his birthday on the monday so had a whole new lot to play with. He was very sorry and has promised he wont do it again so i suppose time will tell :-)

r.mac, I think GISI's suggestion is a good one and one that I have used often . The children receive lots of JL vouchers for Bdays/Xmas/Easter for me to buy throughout the year (usually shoes!) but if Clarks have a sale then I trade them into my purse and off I shop to Waitrose :cool:.

GISI, that is so very sad. I saw it on the news early this morning. I feel so sorry for the families. Hugs for you x.
