I didnt know they were meant to be off bottles by 1 year Seth is WAY off yet, he still has a morning bottle, one before his nap and one before bed... oops! The morning one would be easy to wean him off, just by giving him his breakfast earlier, but I dont know as I want to be giving him his weetabix at 7am lol!

We still sterilise, but only cos its somewhere to keep the bottles!!

I was thinking about the sterilising thing - we are at 7 months and everything goes in his mouth so am seriously debating just washing them. His bowls, plates and spoons aren't sterilised so can't see the difference it would make.
I could probably get away with it when we start at creche cos I'll only be giving him bedtime bottle - creche have their own bottles that they sterilise but I'll probably send him in with his own and they will make them up as and when so no worries about bacteria.

Am loving the penpal idea - anyone wanna be my penpal? Problem is you all now everything there is to know! :rotfl:

I think I would still sterilise bottles, but only because milk breeds bacteria... But maybe I'm overcautious?

Aimee's just turned 6... I'm sure she'd like me to harrass her into writing to someone too

Seriously have to do some ironing... 2 ikea blue bags full :eek: Hubby's putting legion on so there's something going on in the background for me... Nice... :rolleyes:

Bottles and my expressing equipment were sterilised right up until I stopped using them.

Katie's dummies are washing hot soapy water everyday and boiled weekly.

We always heated the EBM because when they get it direct from you it's warm so that's what they're used to. OH found if it was less warm she used to feed much more reluctantly.

I'm just plotting ways to get part of my kitchen worktop back We cold water sterilise because of the pump parts but I guess after I stop expressing (hmmm..), we can get a smaller container (square rather than round so can tuck it further in the corner) just for 1-2 bottles and the med syringes The things taking up the most space in the steriliser are the pump parts anyway.

Really? I know 'they' say that they can move to cows milk at 1 but I didn't know that they recommend stopping bottles? They are still 'supposed' to have a pint of milk a day at 1, which is a lot to have in a cup.
Benjamin will take milk from a sippy cup but it takes all day!! He has 3 bottles a day, 180ml, 180ml and 210ml (so I think he may be down on his milk intake anyway...).
We will carry on with the bottles until he can take milk effectively from a cup - stuff 'them'!!

I still sterilise milk stuff because milk bacteria can be particularly nasty (and I never wash the bottles out straight away LOL) and will do as long as he has a bottle. But I wouldn't worry if he had a bottle that wasn't sterilised (I have used them twice in the past if we have been out!!)

I can't believe that you are still sterilising his eating stuff!!! I gave you a week!!! I do dummies every so often but that is it other than bottles.
