Thinking of you and I hope someone has talked to you about the implications of the results.
I never had testing with any of my 4 pregnancies and I would have had baby anyway, however I think this is a really individual choice and you need lots of support whilst going through the test.0 -
Thank you for all your kind words, I am 28yrs old and on my age, weight and the gestation of the baby I have a 1:1050 chance so it's just on the triple test that it has come up. I have been told that if the test is successful on Wednesday I will have provisional results on the Friday as I have had a failed amnio. I live in Portsmouth, my husband is in the navy and I have a 3 yr old so we definately have some difficult discussions ahead.
Since having the failed amnio on Wed I have been in discomfort but I am hopeful that If I was going to miscarry it would of happened by now. So fingers crossed.Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0 -
Hi ,
I was 35 when I conceived my youngest .My doctor mentined the amnio and triple test .
She asked me if I could have an abortion if it proved positive .I said no immediately and my doctor said that if I had said yes ,she would have had me tested .As i said no ,i decided not to have the test .
As it was C was perfectly healthy .

just wanted to send a hug. i didn't have the tests on my babies, but my sister recently had extra tests when hers came back with a high chance of spina bifida and she was really worried, not knowing what decision she would make if the baby had a problem.
how long will your husband be away for? is there any chance of him getting leave during this difficult time? do you have anybody else close by that you can talk to? if the baby has downs do you think you will have the same thoughts as your husband will?
what about scans? is it too late for a nuchal scan? (i don't know much about that).
fingers crossed for the test on wednesday, keep posting here whenever you feel the need, and try to look after yourself and get enough to eat and sleep, i know it must be difficult but sometimes you need to put yourself first *HUGS*52% tight0 -
I was offered an amnio with DS1(I was 22 at the time)my chances of having a downs syndrome baby were around 1:2500, but the nuchal measurement taken at my 20wk scan was high enough to indicate downs in DS1. I refused the amnio as I wouldn't have terminated the pregnancy at 20wks. I didn't really worry about it either and he was fine when he was born(he does have ADHD though). I don't think the downs blood test is a great help, because no matter what your test shows there are no guarentees you won't be that 1.0

Hi
I had an amnio with my last baby, but only because of my age. My friend who is younger than me came up with a high risk from her triple test, but the amnio showed all was well. I have also known of several women who have needed a few attempts at the amnio because there hasn't been enough fluid around the baby, so you are not unusual!
It is really difficult with men, they don't seem to ant to talk about it, but keeping your emotions in won't help you. Make sure you are open with your midwife who can offer you support!!
Good luck for Weds and let us know how you get on!!
Hugs

Hi
Good Luck on Wednesday.
I had an amnio when I was 37 and was worried too. Got loads support from Health Visitor but you still worry anyway. Rest when you come home after (it's hard to rest when you have another wee one) but you should try.
Hope all goes well for you.

Thank you all for your words of support, I feel so much better knowing that I am not the only person. I am so not looking forward to the test on Wed, it's at 9.30 My DH is coming with me, I told him last night that it's all very well and good helping round the house but I need emotional support. He took it on the chin and has been better today. I am dreading wednesday, I sweat so much on the bed.Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0
