Actually there are studies that show the population balance sorts itself out after some discrepancy. For example in a war, many men are killed, as a result women have to do more demanding jobs, hence more sons are born.

More demanding than keeping a household in the 30's 40's? All that scrubbing, gardening, polishing, hand washing?

I haven't tried it, but the Shettles method is supposed to help choose the sex of your baby. If you google "shettles" there are lots of resources...

    Good luck!!

its amazing the number of 'ol wives tales' about the best way to conceive, what the unborn childs sex is.... etc

my wife and i ....... have had 3 girls, didnt try a fourth time just for a boy..... (my excuse was, we filled the back seat of the car, therefore stopping MIL coming wiht us... he he) i am happy with them.... (although it can be a little hair raising at times)...... they each have different traits, one likes horror movies and theme park big rides, another is very girly, the youngest is a mix inbetween, even boys can grow up to not like the same things as their parents.....
as for continuing the family name... if a girl is strong minded enough, she could get the fella to change his name or end up with a double barrelled name....

I have 3 brothers and 1 sister, between us we 6 daughters and 1 son...........
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

    Hi,
I read something that said 'male' sperm swim more quickly and are not as hardy as female sperm. Female sperm swim more slowly and are stronger than male sperm, Hence, to conceive a boy - time 'it' to a day before or the day of ovulation. to conceive a girl you need to do the deed 2 or 3 days before ovulation and then not again! I think that was right!!!:rotfl:
I have a boy and a girl and though it wasn't pre-planned this is how we got our kids. The following is TMI:D but the eldest (boy) was conceived the day I saw the cervical mucus. Hubby was meant to be travelling to somewhere after work for a meeting early the following day but had called in at home en-route :p .

With the youngest (girl) we had unexpected house guests the day after ahem the business was done :o (a few days before I saw the cervical mucus)and had given up our bedroom to them.

I really did not mind what I had, I was thrilled to have a girl, but I'd have been happy with another boy.

At the end of the day its a 50/50 chance, best way to do it is to keep trying until you get it right :rotfl:

Are any of you in a surestart area?

I went along to the one up the road from me last night for a breast feeding clinic. I have to say i was impressed. The midwifes are lovely, and the centre has a cafe, so it is possible to pop in whenever i want.

they were very helpful about breastfeeding, and also had other ideas for relaxing now, and preparing a birth plan.

I was a bit sceptical before i went as i thought they would be trying to force a certain way of living on me, but it was nothing like that.

the best bit was i got a freebie of a flannel, soap, and a massage lotion. Worth checking if you have a centre in your area as they can also lend you things like breast pumps, and give you free nipple cream and the likes, which i wish i'd known before going and buying a tube at £10 from boots.
  • Hi, can I join?

I think this is a great thread and just the right place for it - if we keep it updated with links to offers and freebies we spot on the other boards then some people who don't have time to search around can just keep track of this thread and follow any links.

Just to give you my stats "officially" :) I'm Andrea, I'm 32 and I'm just over 15 weeks, due on 13 Jan. It's currently nicknamed Peanut although it's a wee bit bigger than that now :)
Could you do with a Money Makeover?

I had a girl first and then two boys, so just go for it and hope for the best, you do after all have a 50-50 chance of having a boy :D Then again some men can only father boys and some only girls

I'd just lie back and wait :D
  • sugar and spice and all things nice, apparently thats what little girls are made of, sorry....
