Hi Essexhoney,
Why have you beeen told that? Because of the SPD? I had an interview with a consultant anaethetist (spelling!) before I had my second child and was told there would be no problems with even an epidural (which btw I ended up having!).
I had a section with my first baby and found the recovery from the SPD took about 8 to 9 months, but with my second (assisted delivery) the recovery was a lot quicker.
She also checked it out with the hospital's orthopedic surgeon on call who essentially said that there are pros and cons for either form of delivery with SPD.
Or are there other reasons? (you don't have to say if you don't want)

wow other spd sufferers .... my midwife bought it up last wednesday, as after a very hectic time of it im starting to suffer. Im taking things easy at the mo, and had thought things were getting better, but ive come up to bed tonight in agony ...... at next appointment if its still playing up midwife has agreed to refer me for physio.
i had just gas and air with my son & daughter and hope to do the same ..you aint getting any sort of needle in my back ... so no epidural for me !!!!
am coping with the heat ..but im only 17 weeks .....not too sure how id be if i was 40 weeks however !!

Hi
I'm 20 weeks pregnant with our third. DS1 is 8, DS2 is 5 and at our scan this week discovered that DS3 is due to join us in December. Have had summer babies before so am looking forward to a cool labour ........
Am hoping that it should be relatively cheap with 3 the same sex, but have already been tempted with the Next sale!0 -
Hi everyone,
I would love to join this gang I am 7 weeks today an unplanned baby but a nice suprise I am not very good at being pregnant have been so 2x before first time was a little girl who verysadly was stillborn at 31wks in feb 2002 second was my son born healthy after numerous scares including prem labour at 26wks he was feb 2003 so this is my third go at it feeling great apart from a little tired and occasional quesiness (spelling shocking i know) very touched by this pregnancy as my gran passed away a few weeks ago and I feel its a gift from her she always wanted me to have a girl and I would love to have a baby girl this time DH is threatening vasectomy after this one he also has a daughter from previous marriage I am trying (and really struggling if im honest) to quit smoking 4 my baby i will get there just really hard at minute.
On the sex of the baby thing I also saw a spiritualist earlier this year and he was really good knew things he couldn't have known and he told me there was a little girl waiting to be born to me so heres hoping but as long as its healthy I don't really care.
Love to you all and for those of you waiting to pop hope it happens soon.

Hi everyone!
I'm 8 and a bit months pregnant, due 14th August!!
God, i HATE this weather!! I've never looked forward to winter so much in my life!
This one is a boy and we already have a girl called Summer who was 1 on 16th June!! As you can imagine, i am very fed up of being pregnant and i have been almost continously for 2 years now, lol!!
We can't think of a name to save our lives!! Any help would be great!!!What the Deuce?0 -
winnie81 wrote:I'm majorly fed up now as I have suffered from SPD and Sciatica from 12 wks  I can only move with crutches now.
I also suffered with SPD with both pregnancies, much worse with 2nd, started at 14 weeks, and ended up with crutches - definitely no more babies!
Didn't realise so many people out there suffered, always felt like a bit of a freak with it. Opted for a c-section second time round as felt just so weak couldn't imagine labour, joints so stiff, so tired through no sleep because of pain etc. Recovery has been slow but SPD has cleared though physio has told me ligaments will always have a weakness.0 -
can i play im not pregnant but the reason im up at this stupid hour is i have a newborn so still quite up to date on the pregnancy thing
right she is asleep im going back to bedFree of dept Thanks Martin
:T  beers are on me0 -
Wow lots of SPD suffers
You all have my sympathies if your going through it at the moment I dream of being able to do something/anything without the agonising pain shooting through me
As for labour my consultant/midwifes don't seem concerned and I am having to research the best positions etc myself  They are very casual about the whole thing which does concern me as I don't want to cause myself any furthur damage and I will be using just gas and air again (hopefully anyway).
Still no signs of baby deciding to come out - she'll be an official squatter soon :rotfl:
Claire xWife to a great husband and mum to 4 fantastic kids 9,8,4,3 they drive me mad but I would do anything and give everything for my family :grinheart

mrcow - yer its because of this SPD i was told by the physio that they wouldnt give me an epidural with the SPD due to the fact that i wouldnt be aware of the pain and could do myself more damage, they have said a water birth would be best not only for pain relief combined with gas and air but also for giving birth to the baby - though they have said i cant have one because im high risk
may try and push for one when the tme comes though
Either that or i was told to give birth on all 4's which sounds rather scary LMAO :rotfl:
The main thing that does worry me at the moment is there is nothing in my notes about the SPD and i have spoken to a couple of other people i know who have it have checked their notes and they dont have anything written in them either
Someone suggested to me last night to put it in my birth plan somewhere, but tbh with both of my other 2 i never had a birth plan so i dont know where to start and i sort of really need to do it now
I suppose im just starting to panic as to what is the best way to gve birth inI really dont want to do myself any more damage but the midwifes and doctors dont exactly seem to be full of information to help me
With both of my other 2 all i ever had was gas and air and im hoping to do the same with this one just not sure if im going to be able to

hello.
can i join? I don't often pop onto this board really, so it was nice to spot this thread.
I'm 27, and 26 weeks pregnant with my first baby.(due october 26th, which is round about my 1st wedding anniversary.) We found out at 21 weeks it was a boy, and i have been trying to stop shopping since then.
I luckily have 3 nephews, so i am planning on inheriting some bits, but have been buying clothes for up to the first 18 months as i have spotted them (some have been bargains) so i won't have to spend very much when i'm on maternity leave.
The heat has been killing me. I've not been able to cool down or sleep. Thankfully i am now off work for the school summer holidays, and will only have to go back for 4 weeks after that before starting my maternity leave. Which reminds me i have to post that letter off still now i've been given my MATB1.
