Don't worry, if you're having a hospital birth, they'll have air con ;)

Please tell that to the post natal ward + delivery suite I was in 3 weeks ago. 2 fans between 4 beds...LARGE glass windows...no air con, but we did all have a puddle in the middle of the room to wash in:rolleyes:

As for the swollen feet...a friend said to me "I love you to bits and don't mean to offend, but your feet look like a bald Hobbits" She's trying to get pregnant at the moment, so am looking forward to the day I can have my revenge:p Practically though, Boots do a very good pregnancy foot spray which worked wonders in this weather...I found sticking my feet in cold water made them worse as I didn't have my feet up, so they swelled even more.

  • Mrs Bestthingsinlifearefree is 26 weeks pregnant and it is our first baby.

    Excited but nervous !!!

P.S we are looking at "travel systems" at the weekend, apparently thats what they call prams now days !!

We looked at a Gracco (I think) last weekend and that looked pretty good.

    Any recommendations ?

I like the idea of a permanent seat base in the car and a seat you can click out / click in (if that makes sence) ie you don't need to wake up / take out the baby you just click out the whole chair.

I'm a bit late for this club having had my little boy nearly 6 weeks ago. Anyway wishing everyone all the best! There was a heatwave when I was in hospital (no air-con, 1 fan!) and even now very restrictive as I daren't take the baby outside because of the immense heat.

Mr Bestthingsinlife from my experience I would recommend a Mamas & Papas travel system. We bought ours 5 years ago for DD1 and its had tonnes of use (puschchair used until she was 3 and 1/2) but still in great condition for the new baby. There is a carry cot, pushchair and car seat which all clip onto a chassis. The car seat Primo Viaggio comes with a separate base. I feel it is more substantial with one of these. You can buy this separately I believe. Whole thing cost £450 which isn't the cheapest but I feel I have had VFM due to the quality of the items and amount of use.

What you need depends on your circumstances. There have been lots of threads in the past about baby transport so it may be worth looking at these.

    Hi Bestt....

I thought that you were a pushbike man and that cars were evil things. tongue00154kq.gif

A really good tip is to take your car with you and try the pram for size in the boot - & to try it both length ways and width ways. You may find that the Greco is a good looking piece of kit but that it isn't very boot friendly, but that something that doesn't look as "good" fits a lot better. When you do go, make sure that you have as much [STRIKE]crap[/STRIKE] useful stuff in your boot as usual so that the test is worthwhile. We used a M&P Freestyler Completo and it worked very well for us (wasn't cheap though !).

p.s. oh and congratulations to you both. thumbsup4kk.gif

    Thanks Murphy the Cat.

Yes :rotfl: I am a push bike man (though I prefer the term mountain bike man).

Alas Mrs Bestthingsinlife is definitely a car person and is not ready to save the world like me.;)

Thanks for the tips about the car boot.

    Best,

    Can I join??

I'm 18 weeks pregnant with our first child- via IVF. We have the 20 week scan next Friday:D We already had a private scan done at 12 weeks, so we have seen him/her, and have the DVD to prove it...lol.

My workplace has been dreadfully hot recently- the thermometer by my desk runs out at 30C, so I can't actually tell how hot it was. I have been going to the ladies every hour to soak some paper towels and wipe my face and arms. Anyone any other ideas?

    :D
    The IVF worked;DS born 2006.

    Best,

a few other things, try and test it whilst it is raining and try it one handed, or at least with something in your other hand - because believe me you'll be doing a lot of it in the future & a pram (sorry travel system that weighs 3-4 kg less will make your life a lot easier.

  • Wow I only started this thread a few hours ago, had lunch, afternoon snooze and mag reading therapy then found 18 replies on here!!!

Nelly of course you can join in. Its a well known fact that men can get sympathy symptoms like weight gain, swollen joints and memory loss - are any of these familiar yet?

Thanks for all your replies and good luck to all those trying to conceive. If you haven't read it already, I think the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is excellent. I read it in Feb and was pregnant by March!
