Great website - am seriously relating to the baby moving clips at the moment - my bump is constantly on the move at almost 35 weeks, freaks us out sometimes when a big pointy bit suddenly pokes out!! This one especially.

Wow, purplepatch, your bump literally has got a life of its own! Must be a weird feeling.

Eeek, I'm not pregnant at the moment but I can still remember what that was like. When my baby number 4 turned from breech to the right way round at 37 weeks I felt like I had a rugby scrum in there. He took about five minutes to do it and I just watched in amazement at my tummy going round. I could almost see the expression on his face he was pressing so hard from the inside!

OMG Caixta, that sounds amazing!! I bet you were gobsmacked
  • Hi everyone

Just stumbled onto here, and looks like it will take a fair while to read all the previous posts.

Just wanted to ask if i could join? OH and i got our positive result Mon/Tues this week (had to do 2 tests, as couldn't believe the first!!!! :D Been TTC since last year, and been trying to put all thoughts out of my mind so i didn't go crazy each month). So we are both over the moon :j , and now petrified!!!!

I have recently lost over 3 stone - with Slimming World, to help with the fertility, and was concentrating on this - now looks like i will put it all back on.
But hey ho, it'll be worth it.
    L
PS. I'm now even more freaked out  and scared by looking at the shots of the moving babies!!! :rotfl:
    What's he building in there???
Debt at highest £30,450 (Dec 05)
    Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)
How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave
  • Welcome to the thread Lydia, congratulations on your news. You just need to copy and paste and add yourself to the list.

Don't be freaked out by the moving bellies, it's really nice and comforting in a spooky kind of way ;).

Nothing to do with pregnancy moneysaving but I am due 24th October and am on every other day monitoring due to IUGR & Obstetric Cholestasis so looks like baby will be born fairly soon. Anyway trying to figure out names, please help!

Girl - Eloise (Ella), Grace, Evie or Erin? (Already have 1 girl Lucy)

We believe we are expecting a girl although the scans have not been definate due to babies size and position, only about 70% certain so the midwife sonographers say. We particularly like Eloise and we would probably use Ella or Ellie as nickname. Please help with middle names and thoughts on Eloise and the other choices, many thanks!

ooh - Eloise is on my list (though as a middle name - want something Irish for first name) as I love the song of the same name ;)
Are girls names easier than boys or how come we're able to decide on those ones without argument (and I'm not even expecting either yet!)

I'm currently dealing with a worried partner. Lets just say that my bump isn't poking out as much as he things it should. As a result he's worried that our little lady is small...too small. I wish I could take him to see the midwife so he can ask his qusetions there, but because of work its pretty much impossible.

Spent some time last night and this morning with him feeling bump. She game him some good squirms and kicks, which I think helped him to see that she's alive and kicking. However, it can't solve the fears over size.

I think the size of my bump is a little deceptive as she's lying transverse instead of up down...and suspect she's got herself into an interesting position.

I know that size of bump doesn't relate to size of baby...but any ideas on how to sort OH out gratefully received.
Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.
  • rchddap1 - have you tried googling 'pregnancy small bump' or similar and getting him to read some of the info that comes up? He might feel a bit more reassured reading other people's experiences, such as here on mumsnet.

I'm much the same as you, my bump is very compact and everyone who asks is amazed when I say I'm due next month. Expect I'd be concerned if it wasn't for the fact that my bump for DD1 was identical to this one and she weighed in at a healthy 8lb 4oz.
  • Tricky one Rchdap. It will be really hard cos of his previous experiences which you have talked about.

There is a midwife website. Can't quite remember the name of it but you can send questions in and they respond. Will see if i can find the card out and then let you know if i do. Also there is a dads section on the huggies website i think. Perhaps if he read through some of the posts on there.

On a seperate note, i noticed last night that my skin around my bump had turned a different colour. My belly button and the area below have gone really white. I don't know whether to try and talk to a midwife about it or if it is just another of them things that happens to you.

Anyone had it happen to them or seen it anywhere? I'm absolutely stumped. Thought at first it was because i had been in the bath, and it was where the skin is thinnest, then i panicked a bit and thought it might be a change in my blood supply, but i can still feel little pud kicking around.

I had a very small bump with my first child and he hardly ever kicked which worried my husband, but when he was born he weighed 8lb 12 so I think your baby will be fine. If there was any concerns your midwife would of mentioned it already. Also some babies are not very active, that doesn;t mean something is wrong.
