I have my 20 week scan on Thursday and although ideally it would be nice to wait until the birth I'm just too impatient and want to know! Also, it would be great to get some bargains in the sales ;) We already have a boy and a girl so no preference at all. I have a feeling it's a boy though, no idea why except I'm drawn to the boys baby clothes in shops, they're just so cute!

Anyone else intend finding out the sex?

    Loopy x

I'm only 9 weeks but when we have our anormaly scan were gonna find out the sex, where dying to get shopping.
  • Congrats Sooz - sounds like you both had a lovely experience! :O)

Haven't posted for a while (was off-net for a bit & not much to report after that!), but had my anatomy scan on Monday - all fine, and it's a BOY!

My OH is in shock, and bless my poor mum who'd had knitted a pink cardie already...I'm just in smug mode as I've thought this one would be a boy since I first found out I was preggers! :O)

Question for all you preggy ladies out there (esp. those who have found out the sex of your baby already) - it's about something odd that has come up between my friends and I in past pregnancies and again this time around, so just interested to see how it plays out with more experiences to draw upon!

In your pregnancy, did you prefer apple or cranberry juice (if you had a very strong preference either way?)

Interested to know as in my first pregnancy I was a cranberry junkie (literally couldn't get enough of it), and I had a girl, this time around it did nothing for me at all and has been apple all the way - and it's a boy. My friend had a craving for apple all the way through hers, and she had a boy - my other currently preggy friend has been glugging the cranberry like it's going out of fashion and just found out she's expecting a little girl...could there be something to it or is it just me getting a bit Mystic Meg in my old age - well, it's a bit of fun either way! ;O)

Hope everyone's fine and well - and congrats to all the ladies who've discovered they're expecting or have given birth since I last visited! :O)

    Lucy.

  • Hi all,

Can I join in - our due date is 3rd Aprill - just in time for the new maternity laws :)

Not sure if it's a boy or a girl - in negotiations with the other half at the mo to decide if we're going to find out or not?

Just had the Dating scan anyway & waiting nervously for the 20 weeks scan now. Is everybody this nervous?

Been reading for a while now but I'vev only just told work so didn't want to post until then.

    Cheers,
    worto.
  • Can I be added as well my EDD is the 16th May - My birthday!

Also can I ask a question. What are the changes in the maternity leave laws. Have gone onto Direct.Gov but just confused (have two other children as well and think my brain has not recovered yet as DD is only just 12 months!)

    Any help would be appreicated.

From the 1st of April 2007 Maternity leave will be 9 months paid instead of 6 months.

Also if the mother goes back to work early she can pass some of her leave onto the father.
  • How soon does morning sickness arrive? I'm not due on until next Tuesday but Monday and today I've felt really rough and sicky, I'm not usually a sicky person, so am wondering if this is it (fingers and toes crossed). I haven't taken a test as yet obviously because I'm not due until next week it would probably be negative even if I was pg. Any thoughts??
I started being sick three weeks after my previous period but first two tests I did were negative so was nearly five weeks before I got a positive test. Hope your sickness doesn't end up as bad as mine though as I ended up in hospital last week.

I'm now at 30 weeks and am starting to feel exhausted. Oh....and if anyone tells you that the sickness disappears completely once your out of the first bit don't believe them. Recently I've been sick occasionally again. Yuk.
Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.
  • If it helps, i've eaten more apples and drank more juice, and mine is a boy. I hadn't noticed it as a craving though.

In fact the only real craving i have had is for jacket spuds and mash.

I had a lovely day off work yesterday for my midwife appointment. Baby is head down still and 4/5 engaged. They scared me a bit as they kept using the word large, and saying ooh-not a six pounder is he?? And with 5 weeks to go that is scary.

It doesn't help that i'm writing a reproduction module for school, so i used yesterday to catch up with the robert winston video of giving birth, and it actually had me in tears. I tried to explain to DH, who was just in stitches at the way i described it. I'm over it a bit today, but i felt very overwhelmed yesterday and just want it over and done with now.

I'm 35 weeks today, so i can start with the rasberry leaf tea, but i'm just wondering if i should wait till i finish work next Friday.

Will keep you all informed as to if i think it works at all.
    Michelle, xx

Lots of other interesting "bump" action on there too.

    ;)

Great website - am seriously relating to the baby moving clips at the moment - my bump is constantly on the move at almost 35 weeks, freaks us out sometimes when a big pointy bit suddenly pokes out!! This one especially.
