  • It feels a little bit early, but i've been washing my newborn baby clothes today. My sister was in absolute shock at me that i hadn't started packing my hospital bag, so she's coming around tonight to sort me out. ;)
    Hi Michelle :hello:

I'm due 28 October, so identifying with your ailments! This will be my second daughter and I'm currently a full time mum, so not working, but sometimes I wonder whether I wouldn't find it easier going to work than running around after a contrary little madam 3 year old! She does go to preschool 4 mornings a week, so I get a little peace then, but usually use that time to do all my household chores.

Just to say that I don't have my bag packed either but there again, DD1 didn't turn up until 10 days after her due date and I had 3 days of contractions before going to hospital, so I'm not anticipating any surprise early arrivals this time either. But maybe better safe than sorry, perhaps I'll sort a few bits out this week.

I got a load of DD1's newborn stuff down from the loft after the 20 week scan and washed and ironed it all in preparation - most of it has hardly been worn they grow so quick, I knew I wouldn't feel like doing it later on in the pregnancy! Spent today turning the nursery back into a nursery rather than the junk room that it had become. Bought a load of nappies last week (Boots Huggies 3 for 2 offer plus a free changing bag if you join the parenting club :money:) so am getting there slowly but surely.

Anyway, better get off to bed as DD1 had us up at 6am today, so feeling a bit whacked - thought would say hi though as we're so close with our dates :)

The hospital that my antenatal refferal was sent to called me up to say that they are accepting me.

but they said it would be shared care and wanted to know if I was ok with this, when I asked what it ment they said it was normally in most cases and thet my care would be shared between the hospital and my GP. Is this true? If it's so normal why did they ask me if this was ok?

With my first born, 5 years ago all my check up was at the hospital.

I have shared care because i live in one county and the hospital is in another. I was called in for a check up at the hospital at one point and they asked me if I was happy to stay with the midwife care, which I was. Haven't had a check up at the hospital since (except the scans of course)

That saves me going to the hospital all the time but I don't know my doctor to well and not very sure about her

Me either. Actually only saw the woman for the first time a few weeks ago (I'm 30 weeks at the moment). For the rest of the time I've been seeing a midwife who is set up at the gp's surgery.

If I had wanted to I could have said to the hospital that I'd like them to continue to do check ups on me and could have limited my exposure to the midwives & my GP in my area.

Use wallpaper, it stops the smell, but I know past times sell proper ones oh and i saw some in matalan last week but they were in the sale bit so every store might not have them.
