Hi
Wanted to join your "club". I found out yesterday that I am pregnant again (this will be for 3rd) and I am a little in shock. My youngest Amelie was 1 on the 06/09 and I am due on my birthday 16th May 2007.
I am really worried as Amelie is not a great sleeper - infact I do not think that I have had one good nights sleep since she was born!!
Any advice would be appreciated.
I just want to say that we are excited about the baby. I do not want it to sound like we are ungrateful. The trouble will be telling my sister as she has been trying for a baby for the last 3 years with no success0 -
Hi everyone, it's about time I 'joined'
I am expecting our third child on 15th Feb which makes me around 18.5 weeks at the moment. I have my big scan next week, we already have a boy and a girl so we don't have any preference about the flavour of this one!
As we have quite a big age gap (our youngest will be 9 when this baby is born) we have nothing at all for the new baby! It's all quite exciting to buy everything again but sooooooooooooo expensive! Hopefully we'll be able to get a lot second hand but of course will buy a new car seat, matresses etc.
One thing that amazes me this time round is how great supermarket baby clothes are! Asda have sleepsuits and bodysuits in sets for around £1-2 each which is waaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than the cost of these items when I had my other two. They are so cute too, can't wait to start shopping once I know what flavour I'm having.
Look forward to 'meeting' you all. When I've got a few hours spare I'll read through the whole thread and get up to date with everyones news.

Hi all Mums to Be and TTC mums
This will be my first baby, due in April, does anyone have any good advice about what to buy and how many of each thing you need for a new baby, as we are starting to budget and put money away now.(£2000 so far)
I have no idea how may vests, sleeps suits, bibs to get and so on.
can any experienced mums give advice on the best bargain they had for their baby or the most useful single thing they got.
I asked some friends, and one said her dishwasher was the best thing she got when her baby was born, as after caring for her new baby all day the last thing she wanted to do was the dishes!

It feels a little bit early, but i've been washing my newborn baby clothes today. My sister was in absolute shock at me that i hadn't started packing my hospital bag, so she's coming around tonight to sort me out.
I still think it is a bit too early, but then again with her first she had him at 37 weeks, and i am 34 and a half. I suppose its easier than panicking if he does come early.
The little clothes look so cute on the clothes airer. I have mainly gone for George stuff. Even the white vests have cute little dogs on them.
I went to visit my friend and her little baby, and her clothes from next and marks and sparks were absolutely massive and drowned the poor little boy, so she was put off by that.
I'm starting to find it a real effort to do very much at the minute. My belly is huge and starting to get the dreaded stretch marks, and my feet, legs and arms are swelling up. I took Friday off work so i could sit with my feet up.
Only 2 more weeks for me till the maternity leave starts, and i have a day off next week too for a midwife appointment. Anyone else wishing it all to be over fairly soon???

moohound - I would say you need around 6 bodysuits and sleepsuits. I wouldn't buy too many newborn clothes as people do tend to buy them for you as presents and the baby grows out of them so quickly. As I wrote above they are so cute and cheap in Asda!
There are so many baby products on the market and it's very tempting to go a bit mad and buy everything but as I found out to my cost a lot of them are a complete waste of money and end up gathering dust. Before you buy ask yourself if you 'really' need it. For example a small baby can easily be bathed in the sink so you don't 'really' need a baby bath. You can use normal towels to dry a baby so you don't 'really' need baby towels etc etc.
My best buy would be muslins - lots of them! Use them for mopping up sick, putting over your shoulder to protect clothes, covering up from the sun, help with discreet breastfeeding etc. My Dd also used one as her 'comfort' blanket ... aww.
cha97Michelle - Those last few weeks can be tough! Not long until your mat leave! Have fun packing your hospital bag - when I did mine I unpacked it and re packed it again on a daily basis!

I was in the same position. I found out I was pregnant 4 weeks ago
and was scared of hurting my sister's feelings. She's been trying for a baby for 5 years and is the only one out of my siblings that doesn't have a child.
When I told her she was really nice and said it was great news but I know her heart was probably breaking.0 -
I thought it might be useful for us all especially the first time mum's if us mum's with 1 or more already gave our list of 'wouldnt have been without' items?
I'll start it off:
I absolutely wouldnt be without my:
1) digital baby monitor (BT one)
2) Baby Dan play pen
3) Baby grow bags.
Ironically we didnt get the BT digital monitor until my DD was 16mnths as when we moved house our analogue Tomy walkabout just hissed and crackled at us! But the BT one is fab! You can hear every breath even at the back of our 120ft garden!
The baby Dan again was a late purchase and we made do with a travel cot as a playpen before that. The baby dan was expensive (£60 from ebay) but was a godsend for keeping my Little acrobat/Mountaineer/explorer safe while I answered the door/pegged out the washing/had a quick shower etc.
You need quite a lot of space though and although my baby loved being in there I've heard some mum's say their babies felt like they were in prison!
Baby Grobags/sleeping bags were brilliant! Didnt have to bother with all that expensive bedding or making up the cot every night and they get all snuggly and warm and stay that way even if you have to bring them out for their feed etc.0 -
I'll certainly get some muslins, and some gro - bags
thanks for the tips
Can anyone recommend a good bra to sleep in, I usually wear an E cup. my boobs feel like cricket balls and I usually sleep in a kind of 'recovery' position, but I have trouble getting comfortable at the moment.I thinka bra would help but mine are all underwired.
I have seen maternity pillows that support your bump, are they any good?

moohound - get yourself sorted asap with a good maternity support bra. The underwired ones can block your milk ducts if you wear them.
I personally have one of the boomerang support pillows which DH bought me from mothercare, although i think they may be cheaper in the argos?? I then have a normal pillow which i put either under my bump or between my knees to make me comfy.
Thought i would just mention that asda have reduced the price of their hooded baby towels. I paid £5 each for some a couple of months ago, my sister told me today that she bought me one for £2.50. Also, my other sister works at Asda, and she has picked me up quite a few reduced bits where the item was part of a set, part of the set has gone missing, and the rest has been put on sale. She is lucky as the manager of the george section in her store puts things away for her as she knows she is buying for me, her own little boy, and our two other nephews. Perhaps worth looking on their sale rails though.
