musey wrote:I am very upset today.
We decided to have a nuchal scan & blood test carried out privately as it was not offered at the hospital. I had this done on Monday night, before the scan the consultant calculated that I had a risk factor of 1:166 but after the scan this had risen to a much healthier 1:853 but I had to wait until tonight the blood test results. The consultant has phoned me to say the blood tests were unfortunately not as reassuring as the scan and my risk has now gone to 1:83. I have to go tomorrow morning to see him to discuss what (if any) further tests to have.
I feel so shocked after the scan I was so happy and positive and now I feel as if the ground has just shifted under my feet and I'm hanging in mid air.
hi musey just wanted to let you know we too had a high risk for downs with my previous pg ds is now 20 months and he did not have anything I think that scans are much more accurate then bloodtests as there are a lot of factors that can influance the bloodtest results (e.g being overweight) hope everything is ok for you

Just added Baby D to the date list - who'd have thought there were so many mums to be on here?! I live in the northeast of Scotland and am 27 weeks tomorrow. Didn't show at all until about 18 weeks, then suddenly developed a vast bump almost overnight!
This will be our first and we don't know the sex - NHS Grampian won't tell you, but we wouldn't have wanted to know yet anyway.
Hi downsizing
I am in the northeast too and am 25+5 now so due not long after you!! Are you having the baby in AMH? This is my 2nd ds is 20 months now so I'll have a 2 year age gap. I hoped to have ds in Peterhead but I had to be induced so had to be Aberdeen and then I had a section so have to have this one there too.

Hi Anne,
No am having it in Dr Gray's - although there's no epidural available there! Hopefully all will go well though and I won't need anything more than gas and air. I'm 27 + 3 now and getting v uncomfortable at nights and am probably the only person glad the hot weather is over! PM me if you feel like a chat!

peanutpie05 wrote:Good luck for tomorrow Jude123:) As I mentioned in my post before; I will be getting the baby sexed ... not for painting purposes ... but just because we want to know.
Were you induced with no.1? I was 2 weeks late with all 3 and missed induction with each of them by just hours !!!
Let us know how you get on, take care,x
Thanks peanutpie all was well, bany growing fine etc. Yes I was induced for number 1, I was desperate not to be so that I could give birth at a midwife unit rather than a hospital, made them wait 14 days rather than the usual 10 days but it still did not make any difference - he just was too cosy inside! Anyway raliosed now that although there is so much focus on the birth experience, in reality it is what happens afterwards, the day to day looking after bany, that is most important!0 -

Excellent news Jude123. You certainly sound like the voice of experience ... yep ... once the birth is over ... then the real business begins:)
We too have a 'midwife led unit' (kind of built in to the hospital) for low risk cases. I've used it twice and it's nice ... but having also used the regular maternity ward ... I wouldn't be so upset if I couldn't use the mw unit.
Did you get your pictures? I took one of mine to a printers once and got them to laser copy it ... the laser ones have 'kept' alot better than the original (which has faded somewhat). Thank goodness there are dates on the scan pictures ... it gets so confusing as I've had that many scans (consultant care owing to 3 m/c between dd no1 and dd no2 means lots of extra scans). My 20 week scan is this Fri
Take good care, xxpp050 -
i finally made it to the other list!!
my son was born, on his due date, just an hour after we arrived in hospital. it was a fantastic water birth, he was 7lbs exactly and i feel amazing. we were home 12 hours later, and only stayed in that long as they got really busy and could not discharge us earlier [....we did consider escaping, but the midwives were nice, and i got my cup of tea this time]
