Hi MB, I have my 20 week scan on the 18th Aug ... not far from you. Good luck with yours - what is your due date? Mine is 5th Jan (though in reality that means that little peanut will arrive on the 19th ... my last 3 have all been exactly 2 weeks late!)
I'll add my tuppence to the nappy debate etc also...
Having breastfed my last 2 for 2 yrs and 18 months respectivly ... I keep them in the pampers new baby nappies as long as possible (as they have the soft poo absorbancy layer - essential) Thereafter I'll either use pampers premiums/active fit or huggies super flex. Having said that, I used to use tesco own nappies on DD no.1 and they were good nappies.
RE: the other items ...
disposable pants - don't bother with them ... just use cheap/old cotton ones.
maternity pads - again ... not much good (and wings are always better ... I've stocked up on bodyform ready for the event)
breast pads - well considering I've been using them for the most part of the last 4 years I would have to say without a doubt use Johnsons .. nothing else is as good. The have a very good shape and are protective to the nipple owing to the 'dimple at the front' (useful if you get sore in the early days).
wipes - def pampers sensitive. I went to the hospital with my first daughter armed with a bowl and cotton wool and got in such a state!!!! Pampers sensitive are fine even on newborns
DONT FORGET THE VASELINE (ask the mw to put it on babys bottom before 1st nappy goes on ... stops the meconium sticking). Any brand/cheapest will do.
Save on seperate shampoos and body washes and get a sensitive top to toe wash ... it all goes in the bathwater anyway.
HTH and best of luck to all the other mums to be.

Hiya Peanut!!
My dd was a week early but all my midwifes said I would be!
Alot of people said about the always with wings and sounds like a good tip that!
I bet you cant wait to see your little baba-just a week before mine. I like the 20 weeks scans as you dont have to have a bladderful! My last scan hubby drove me to the hossy and every road seem to have a pot hole, talk about making my eyes water  At my hossy they dont tell you the sex of tha baby but i dont mind as long as they are born happy and healthy i'm all for it! DD wants a sister and the feeling i get i think it will be a girl. The only thing is we only have 1 bathroom-12+ years time and 3 ladies mmmmm
M.B.Cant wait to meet Bumpy!:j0 -
Hiya everyone!!
Hows everyone picking names for thier babies??
With my 1st it was murder-me and the hubby had barnies about it and i let him pick it as i got p***ed off with him!!
This time seems more laid back
Girls seems to be ok but boys are harder....
Looking forward to your replies

lol MB ... I know what you mean about the bathroom situation ...
We have 1 bathroom too and theres 3 girls (so far) plus me. My husband is surely going to move himself into the garage one day!!
They will sex the baby at my hosp ... and I do plan on asking (if it turns out we are having a boy .. we'll probably need the next 4 ish months to get used to the idea .. after having 3 girls).
I'm straight off to the coast for a wedding after my scan next fri ... but will post as soon as I return on Sun/Mon with all the details:)

arghhhh .... I've been trying no ot think about it but will hav to face up to it once I know sex of baby.
I agree - boys names seem harder to choose than girls. I like 3 syllabuls so my 3 girls have 3 syllabul names so far and my choice for no.4 (if its a girl) will also be.
For boys names we're stuck too though. I like traditional names such as Harry, William etc. If I think of any more - I'll post.
Some sites (babycentre etc) have baby name 'lists' they could be worth checking out. Or go to the library for a book.
HTH, x0 -
We've had our names picked for ages. Hardest was picking a boy, but we've had the girl's name from the start. I would list loads of boys names and my OH would then say 'no' after each one. Eventually found one he liked, as it had some memories for him.
OH doesn't like short names too much. So anything sort and simple like Luke was instantly out of the question. There were also some boy's name that are off limits for various reasons that made the job harder, but we managed to sort it all out over the course of 1 day.
Boy's name: Edward Thomas....but its a bit redundant now, as we know that chances are we're going to have a little girl. We kept smiling at the thought of me giving birth to 'ET'.
He also picked out the girls name. But its a name that means a lot to me, so I think its perfect. We were putting some flowers on my Nan's grave shortly after I found out I was pregnant. He looked at the name.....said Lily is a nice name...if its a girl I think we should call her that. My Nan's name was Lilian, and was a very special person. I think she would have been proud.
She was what I'd call a 'proper nan'....she'd always try her best to make us grandkids happy, and would give us things whether we wanted them or not. I always think of her, so after my OH commented on the name I couldn't imagine calling my daughter anything else....and would have shot / strangled him if he'd started to suggest anything else.
It will also mean a lot to my Dad for our little girl to be named after his mum
My step daughter came up with the girl's second name of Marie.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0
