Hello everyone, I'm new to the board, so I thought I would say hi! My name is Sam and I'm nearly 21 weeks pregnant, EDD 20th December. I saw this today and thought of people here. Basically if would like a free hooded bath towel for your baby, SMA nutrition are currently giving them away, just ring 0845 7762900 and sign up to their "Mums Network". All they ask for is your name, address and when your baby is due. They'll also sending you other mailings as part of being in their club.
Gosh, that sounds like I work for them, but I don't! I haven't read through the entire thread, but did people claim their free Cow and Gate cuddly cow when it was on offer - talk about cute!
Please can I be added to the EDD List? Thank you!0 -
Thanks for reminding me about the towel i have just phoned them I am still awaiting the cow. I have double feelings about this as I plan to breastfeed again so do not really see what a formula company can do for me but free is free and the sma leaflet about weaning I got from my healthvisitor was handy I just replaced the sma in the recepies with cream or milk worked fine and a lot cheaper.
I used the asda knickers rather then disposable ones it costs the same and I did not have to chuck all of them. I also used kotex nighttime after the first pack of maternity towels was gone as it was on offer at the time.
I got a whole bag full of girlsclothes 9-18 months yesterday of a friend in case I am having a girl and there were some unisex clothes as well so really chuffed best of all she then also had some clothes that fit ds now that she got from her nephew really good ones as well he is now running around in his 'new'nike trousers. She also gave me a stairgate as she does not need it anymore and ds has started going into the kitchen. I feel a bit guilty as I gave her a potty in return so will invite her over for dinner again soon!!!
I just tracked my cot and it has left the coventry depot this morning so i hope it will be here tommorow will check later to see if it has arrived in Aberdeen so I know if I have to stay in tommorow.
I liked the waterproof cot sheet from boots btw as it has a fabric bit on top they were £15 two years ago though so more then a simple one would cost you but as they go in the washing machine they were well worth it for me

Right, nappies........
I started off with pambers newborn which were great, then I used whichever ones I had vouchers for! I found Huggies leaked, and I didn't like the Pampers babydry. I have used Tesco nappies ever since size 2, and have found them great! They are pretty cheap too...I pay £6.80 for 72....I think....size 3. I have tried Sainsbury, didn't fit right, not elasticated. Asda, same, and they felt damp on the outside sometimes.
On anaother forum, some people preferred one over the other, but quite a few preferred Tesco. I think it is trial and error, as some seem okay for boys and not for girls, depends on baby's shape too I suppose.
Make good use of your vouchers and special offers!! But don't be scared to give own brands a try.
Another hint is baby wipes. Srock up whenever you see them on special offer! We have gone through loads!! I used cotton wool and water at first, but had a good supply long before the baby arrived!!!

I'm now officially 12 weeks pregnant and saw my lovely, wriggling baby yesterday.
Due date 20th February.
A little emotional, but in a good way!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

NAPPIES
I use Tesco's nappies for my daughter and i think they are better than pampers or huggies, my sister uses Asda nappies and gets on with them but i think they are rubbish!
Tesco are the best and you get points to!
Worth a try to see what you think;)Mum to 2 beautiful daughters born Oct 05 & Oct 08

Ohhh its lovely when you see them wriggling about. Chances are the next time I see mine will be when I hold her in my arms. Very scary thought.
OH had fun this morning pretending bean was kicking him in the head. That is, he put his head on my tummy and waited for a wriggle.
Interesting to hear about people's views on nappies....all this is a new experience for me.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
I've got 2 children: 3 year old girl, 1 year old boy...and that's it for me! Horrible horrible horrible morning sickness and terrible births with both! but hey...they are beautiful and worth it...but no more...
I have been through all the nappies and can honestly say haven't had any problems with any of them. I use George (Asda) nappies now regularly, but if I have a voucher then I get whatever is the cheapest. Always try to buy a box for best value (and less shopping trips). I have tried the active fit type and pull ups but find they are very over priced for what they are. My children are active enough in normal nappies...don't need any further help! Haven't found normal nappies restrictive in anyway so why bother with the Active Fits?
Also pull-ups...really aren't worth it again. I've toilet trained the three year old in normal nappies. Once you get accomplished...you can easily just undo one side of the velcro tabs, the nappy slips down for them to go to the toilet, pull up and re-fasten the nappy afterwards. The problem with pull-ups is if they do have an accident, you have to totally undress them to get a new one on and we all know how hard that is!
Also, don't go too mad on changing them every 5 minutes! Only change when you really need to (I.e. if nappy is soiled or no longer than 4 hours in the day-less if very wet). i've seen new mums change everytime they feed (which for new babies can be every five minutes!) and you really don't need to. Don't get me wrong...I am a very clean mum and my children have never had nappy rash...I'm just not obsessive about the whole thing...after all...at night the nappy lasts for 12 hours!
Good luck to you all - a wonderful time:rotfl:
