I used pampers till I introduced solids at 6 months as his poo was just too runny (sorry tmi) from then on I have used any own brand in daytime and pampers/huggies at night as I do find they absorb better and with own brand ones I had to get up and change him during the night. I like all the own brand ones dh only likes tesco (but hey he is a man what does he know)

I am seriously considering using washable nappies this time round.
The fact that my eldest is 12 and her nappies are still in a landfill somewhere and wont be decomposing makes me feel yukky.
Adding 2 other babies since, I think that I need to do something back for the environment this time.0 -
Congratualtions all you Mummies 2 Be!
Hope you dont mind me butting in (dont qualify to join as I had DD3 in April :-)), just wanted to add to Nappies and Breast Pads:
Tescos own and Boots own seem about the best own brand, but IMHO dont compare to Pampers (New baby just cant be beat for dealing with Poo!) - also DD3 got terrible nappy rash which just wouldnt clear then I went back to pampers - Cleared up with days!
Metanium Cream - Is FANTASTIC for nappy rash (it is bright yellow tho!) and you can get it on prescription.
Breast Pads - Lanisoh are by far the best, they do cost more but overall are cheaper as you dont have to change them so often. (tommee tippee come a close 2nd - and they are on offer in Babies r us).
I also agree with the buy cheap knickers and not disposable ones, Always nighttime do just as well as big Maternity Sanitary towels but are more comfy.
Rasberry Leaf capsules in the last few weeks will help prepare your womb for birth, and arnica will help you heal after.
Gonna shut up now I could go on about all this forever lol.
Good luck Girls.0 -
just wanted to wish you all well, and thinking of you in this weather. i've been there too( twice now, youngest is 11 months) and spent mst of the summer in my son's paddling pool when i was last pregnant!! haha! bliss. good luck all of you. x0

Hi,
I haven't heard too many good reports on Boots, but I think you will find the one that suits by trial and error.
OOH>>>>>>>all the best for the 25th Aug!!! I used to love seeing my little monkey on scan!! I had fibroids they wanted to keep an eye on, so had about 6 scans in all!!
I know that Jan seems so long away, but the time will be here before you know it! My pregnancy seemed to go on forever, but the 8 months since have just flown by!!!!!!

Ooh, a moneysaving pregnancy thread! I wish this was on when I was expecting. I had my little angel over two months ago and just thought I should add my opinion. I'll be butting in and out of this thread if that's alright with you!
In my opinion...
breast pads - Lansinoh (spelling?) are the best because they don't show through clothing, they come in protective polythene which is good for travelling and they are absorbent. I was recommended Johnson&Johnson but was not impressed with their bulkiness. Also because of the way Lasinoh are shaped they don't shift.
Tesco nappies - they don't leak. I found that Pampers leaked no matter how little she poo-ed!
for preventing/curing nappy rash - sudocrem - its magic. not only does it prevent nappy rash but it cleared up my little one's neck rash in two days! Its also good for teenage acne.
Maternity towels - don't bother. Use 'Always' with wings. No matter how flat that towel it always does the job discreetly and effectively.
Disposable nickers - don't bother. Get some cheap multipacks from the supermarket. With Always towels they won't stain anyway.
I'll post again when I think of more tips

I heop it's ok to post this here but I've started a thread here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=240728 on how to have a green/ethical baby. Not had much response and thought mentioning it here might help.0

possibly because I am hoping to have a conventional pink baby.
good luck with the thread though, I hope you get plenty of contributors.
