Well, my Mum only lives an hour away, so I can send her home too.
Also, she wasn't happy when I told her that at the hospital in the delivery suite, only partners allowed. What possible use would she be during labour - this is the woman who has recently gleefully said to me she's glad I'm having a baby as I will find out what real suffering is!!
As for symptoms - early pregnancy I had vague nausea for a week or two, funny taste in mouth - where I had to suck on sweets between the hours of 2 and 7pm, tiredness was a good one, but only hit later on, disturbed nights - constant, and as for boobs, they ached a bit at the very beginning, but stopped by week 7. My symptoms were so rare and few that by the 12 week scan I really doubted I was pregnant at all.
In the second trimester I seem to be unable to do anything physical without my pelvis aching. Eg, I went bowling last night (whoopsie).... now I can hardly walk!:wall:0 -
Just leaving for my 20w scan and I'm absolutely petrified!!! I don't know why as I have been counting down the days since the last scan! I just hope that everything is OK...0

I have a bit of a problem. I have just found out my husband is to be away when our baby is due. I am due on 15th November, and he is supposed to be going away with work from mid October till the end of November. He is trying to get out of it, but I'm not too hopeful.
His boss says that when I go into labour I can phone him and he can drive back - but he could be 7/8 hours drive away! The main thing I am worried about is that he is leaving me 8 months pregnant with a 4 year old and a 1 year old to look after already.
My mum has offered to come and stay and help me through labour if he can't get away NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could not bear this at all. I would rather go through it alone with my midwife. I don't really know why I'm posting, I'm just in shock at the moment.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Good luck Septemberbaby, I'm sure it'll be fine.
OMG hippychick, what a nightmare! Why aren't his work a bit more sympathetic???
Why not get your mum to look after your other two, rather than have her with you during labour? I know I'd find it very weird if my mum came in with me.0 -
oh blimey hippychick what a nightmare
My OH travels a lot with work and has been banned from going abroad for the 6 weeks before I'm due and the month or so after so that he's on hand when I need him. I would probably suffer my mother if he had to go away as I'd rather not be on my own...
Are there friends etc who can be on standby if you need it? Presumably you've got a plan for what will happen to the other children while you're giving birth. Can you OH at least come home for weekends? If so then it may all work out ok - and any boss who thinks you're not gonna have a lot of Braxton Hicks and false alarms etc is stupid...
I'm sure it'll all work out OK in the end but it's horrid to not be able to plan.
September baby - I was terrified before my 20 week scan. I was worried that there would be something wrong etc or worse that I was just imagining it all  Baby went haywire all the rest of the day as my adrenaline sent him a bit loopy :rotfl:
Hope it goes well0 -
Oh hippychick, how awful! But I can also see my hubby getting into a muddle like this, as he can't say no to his pushy boss. Except that I know where his boss (and lovely understanding wife) live, so I'd probably go straight to her!
And like the labour isn't going to be bad enough, having the two kids to run around after all by yourself must be a nightmare. Could you get your mum to stay with you to look after them and then go into hospital on your own  and wait for hubby to turn up? At least that would be one worry out of the way.
Septemberbaby, do tell us how it went - and I want all the details - mine's not till next friday.:wall:0 -
This is a nightmare for me. I do have friends who could have the children for me. I just like to know where I stand, but he's in the forces and things change from day to day. He's only away on exercise, so surely they could get someone else to go?
I have already got used to the fact that he's going away for 6 months to Afghanistan when the baby is 3 months old but this is TOO much!!!!!!!!!
He's going to try and get out of it, but I know we won't get a decision until a lot nearer the time. It's so frustrating!!!!!
Septemberbaby - Good luck!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
