Hi there. I want a home birth this time round too. I have mentioned it to my midwife, but there will be loads of complications due to where I live. She is going to get me some more info for my next appt (16 weeks) on 31st May. I really don't fancy going into hospital at all.
10 weeks between appts is far too long!! I thought most places gave you checks every 4 weeks?

Yep so did I. I have had three appointments since the beginning of my pregnancy. One to book in? one for a scan and bloods and one routine antenatal which was disappointing because all she did was took my blood pressure, she never measured my bump like the last THREE time I had kids. The more and more I talk/think about a home birth the more I'm decided on being at home.
They took my signature away!!!!

Oh, hadn't thought of that. Someone else will def have to do Christmas this year!!

It still doesn't seem real tho. When does it start to sink in?

    Ooooh, congratulations.

And when does it sink in ? Have you had your head over the toilet bowl yet ?

pregnancy symptoms: what are they? & do you need to be experiencing them all?

My friend isn't sure if she's pregnant, so before she pays for a test, I thought I'd seek advice on here :)

I think I paid £1.75 including postage for my three pg test on Ebay.

    But early symptom wise:

    Tiredness
    Frequent weeing
    Sore boobs
    Missed period
    Metallic taste in mouth
and the most obvious - morning sickness (at any time of day though)

and you don't need to be experiencing them all at the same time.

Yes, but my 'morning sickness' seems to be coming in the early evening!! Much easier work wise tho (I haven't told them yet!).

Early symptoms I have had have been tiredness (feel really shattered and have got dark circles under my eyes), frequent trips to the toilet (can't seem to go more than about an hour without needing a wee!), heartburn and nausea.

Ah, heartburn. That one has managed to escape me in the past, and so far in the present.

I had MS a lot at night too, often very late after I had gone to bed.:p

Fortunately I seem to have reduced it down to first thing in the morning (well, it hits me as I sit up in the bath) and I am just starting the second trimester.;)

Hope it doesn't last until baby movement time :T , like it did with my last two pg.

I only got tired at 3 months, at which point I slept for 3 months :rotfl:

NO morning sickness, no metallic taste.

Frequent weeing only kicked in at aobut 5 months.

Period was a week late but I thought that was because I had only just come off the pill and not yet had a period.

Boobs always sore and I have always been a bit weepy and as for indigestion, stomach ulcer in 6th form and chronic Indigestion ever since so no change there!!

Sorry to blow these theories out of the water, but some of us are just lucky I guess ;)

my early symptoms were disturbed sleep - waking up at 6am when my usual was nearer 9

and sore boobs - had to hold them while doing aerobics :o

no other symptoms at all until about week 6 or 7 and felt great, had lots of energy etc. It's all gone downhill since then :rotfl:
  • Hmm no particular sore boobs sign I've been told, achyish but not particularly. Don't know if that's a good or bad sign

My dear Mum had been saying things like she's going to move in with us for a few weeks when baby is born. That she's told work she'll need three weeks holiday in October etc. And I am horrified by this fact.

when i had my DD, my mum lived 300 miles away, and my OH's mum lived 100 miles away, so when they came to visit it was for days...not hours,
i upset both of them by saying they were both welcome but not for the first week, my mum took this quite personally and whinged about it being traditional for the grandparents to be allowed to see the baby, and i said i had no intention of stopping her.... but not for the first few days,
i wanted to adjust, start a routine, recover!! and spend time where it was just the 3 of us, I think dads often get pushed out and forgotten and he only had a few days off after the birth anyway.
she didnt like it... but what could she do?

my mum now lives a few minutes down the road, so when she comes to visit after this one is born... i can send her home after a few hours! :D
