Hi, all. I've been lurking for a while and just wondered if anyone had experienced/planned a home birth. I am 22 weeks and seriously considering a home birth. I had really crap time last time I was in hospital, I was bullied (and yes I mean bullied) into an epidural that I didnt want and which caused my blood pressure to drop dramatically causing my son's heartbeat to stop and then forceably shown how to breast feed (although I had done this twice before) and I just really don't want to go to hospital. So has anyone had experience of giving birth at home??
    Thanks
    Sarah

I am expecting my third, and although I have no problem about my previous hospital births, I quite fancy a home birth this time round.

I mentioned it to my MW and she said I had until 28 wweeks to decide.

    Try https://www.homebirth.org.uk.

My neighbour had a home birth last year and she said it was great, that the midwifes were more personal and that they would never leave you in any danger at all. She also said that once it was over she had a shower came back and there was no sign that she'd given birth at all (lol obviously apart from her new baby boy). The more I ask around I am suprised how popular it is. It would also save so much hassle with three kids already!! Thanks for the link. I'll take a look.

I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Saturday night. We're both fine, but they kept us in hospital until today as she was 4 weeks premature. She weighed 7lb 3oz, so not a bad weight to deliver in the end! We've called her Charlotte Jane.

    And here she is:

That is awful Sarah, no wonder you don't want to go back! My first was the opposite - I was refused pain killers. Had to demand gas and air three times before they caved in and got it, as for anything else when I got it it was too late to have any effect. That was diamorphine, the strongest they gave out. No epidurals or anything allowed!
Anyway, sorry I can't help about home birth but this time I am going to a different hospital that has a much better reputation. Have you got this option?
