Hi,
just taken myself off the list. I went for a scan yesterday and discovered I have an anembryonic pregnancy - i.e the foetus hasn't properly developed. Have to go back into hospital tomorrow for the day because at the moment everything is still in place inside me. Hopefully my husband will be home by then as he's out of the country at the moment - typical!
Good luck to everyone and hopefully I'll be back on the list again soon!

Sorry to hear your sad news Jo. Take care of yourself *hugs*

Have seen everyone I need to see at the hospital and this is how it stands at the moment.

Best case scenario: it's just a bloomin' big baby!

Other causes:

diabetes - but the tests I've had will prove/eliminate that

underlying viral infection - had more blood taken to test for that

baby has a blockage in her stomach/oesophagus - stomach looked ok on scan but she will have to have a tube down her throat when she's born

spina bifida - but my 20 week scan was normal and baby's brain looked fine then

So at the moment, I don't know anything until the test results come back from the tests I've had today. I'm waiting for an appointment to go for another scan and they will have a good look at baby's head and brain to see if it is spina bifida.

The consultant would prefer me to go into labour naturally rather than be induced, but will review that in two weeks time when I'll be 37 weeks gone. Any contractions and I must go straight to hospital rather than hang around as they want to monitor me more in labour.

I have to rest up now as they'd prefer me to deliver after 37 weeks, as her lungs will be better developed then.

Well Becles, hopefully (crosses legs and winces) a big baby is what it is.

I'm sorry that they weren't able to give you anything concrete today but I guess that there was nothing obviously wrong on the scan is good news. As everyone is doubtless telling you, don't worry yourself, just put your feet up and take it easy (I prescribe big doggy cuddles). :grouphug:
