hi does anyone out there know a place to buy cheap cellular blankets either cot size or pram size? I managed to get a cot sized one from tk maxx for £4 recently but they only had one out on the shelf and everywhere else seems to be double the price!

try Kiddicare.com or if you don't mind second hand try your local Freecycle or local NCT nearly new sale I've had a big sack of cot bedding off Freecycle.

I was looking forward to entering the second trimester as everybody said I would feel better, but I am not nearly 4 months and still zonked constantly.
I think the change is quite gradual, it's not like you wake up when you're 13 weeks and are suddenly full of beans :D (I wish!)

I've found my energy levels have gone up very slowly from about 16 weeks onwards. I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and definitely feel miles better than in the first 15 weeks-ish. I'm still more tired than usual, but I guess that's to be expected.

Not sure how much of my perking up is psychological. Once you get a bump, feel the kicks and feel 'properly' pregnant, it does lift your mood a lot. Also, knowing that the baby is almost viable makes a difference (and knowing that even if he was born right this very second, he'd have a small chance) - everything just feels more real.

    congrats to the newbies

and Dormouse I agree pretty much with everything you say it does make a big difference (I'm at the same stage as you) although I'm still knackered all the time and still feeling sick...

    In 2008, silly! :p

I remember looking on here around Xmas last year, and all these mums to be due at that time were having such a hard time trying to prepare for baby/ for Xmas AND be hugely pregnant. I think the advice was to start the preparations really early, so get shopping girls!

Mine started off as just general aches as if I'd done too much or pulled something in that area. It got worse over a the next couple of weeks, until the pain was really bad and I mentioned it to the midwife. She said it was SPD then, and I'd never heard of it before.

I would get checked out as if you get advice and take precautions now, it can stop it getting a lot worse. In the worst case scenario, you can be on crutches/wheelchair with it, so you need to prevent yourself from getting to that stage.

It can be managed, and mine hasn't been too bad following the advice I was given and getting plenty of rest.

    Hope it settles down soon.

Thank you Becles. I got really upset yesterday that I could be suffering with this. Ended up in tears  . Like I don't have enough to worry about. Today I managed to speak to a midwife, who said I'd probably pulled a muscle. Like that could be felt right round the pelvis. But I was doing a huge clearout and gardening at the weekend, so I'll wait for it to improve. Still not convinced it's nothing. The pain is too weird, and moves around, depending on what I'm doing.
Ho-hum, only five months to go!

agutka it's probably a combination of things - your ligaments will be much looser so don't hold everything in place so much and the collagen in your muscles also gets weaker so the combination of the two means that your whole pelvic region and lower back are under more strain. If you've done lots of gardening etc then it's probably the cause of the pain and should ease as you rest. There are exercise that can help strengthen the region - pelvic floor (the dreaded!) pelvic tilts and bum clenches and sitting on a swiss ball (exercise ball) can help relieve everything. My GP is reluctant to call my pains SPD as that's a very specific joint but the midwife was happy to refer me to the physio when I was 16 weeks and I can now make an appointment with them any time I need to (although thankfully the pain has not got worse). The exercise really help though as does lying on an extra thick duvet in bed so it's a very soft bed (you can get a mattress topper but they're so expensive). Classic SPD pain tends to be bad at night and things like going up stairs are sore. I have pain in the wings of my pelvis - there's no joint there so it's only ligament pain but it hurts if I stand for any length of time and walking gets painful... You're more likely to get actual SPD later on as the weight of the baby puts pressure on the middle of the pelvic joint but if the pain in the pelvic region continues then get your midwife to refer you to the physios.

We saw the twins for the first time the other week. Wow - what an experience that was. Absolutely amazing.

We've got regular visits with the consultant now (probably every month) and my wife has started to get a bump (not surprisingly seeing as there's two of 'em!).

Anyone got any good suggestions for shops with 'value for money' (whilst still being fashionable!) maternity clothing?
