it's always possible that there will be problems and a lot of women will experience a miscarriage at some point in their lives so it's good to be aware, but the vast majority of women conceive and give birth without any major difficulties - you just tend to hear less about them. Obviously things like age and other factors play a part but there's no reason at this stage to presume that you'll have any trouble.0

thanks fritha that was helpful! any advice is great. they do recommend hanging on until ur cycle regulates itself but i hate other methods of contraception and abstaining is not an option!!! we are jsut gonna enjoy the trying and carry on as we would as if i was on the pill!!
I really like your reasoning, seems perfectly sound to me! Enjoy! *puts on Barry White* ;-)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
Blimey! I haven't been on this thread/board for a while, but hasn't the list grown!0

I don't think it's something I'd go for as if I had one, I would probably be glued to it permanently. Also, I guess once you get to the stage where you feel regular movements, that's quite reassuring in itself.
Do tell us how it goes, though!0 -

It will take a bit of getting used to initially. Especially the very first time, it'll take a while to actually find baby and figure out the different sounds you can hear. Baby is definitely in there, though, so keep calm and persevere - it's worth the wait!
My wife actually bought one (a Hi Bebe BT200 Sound) on eBay at about 14 weeks. She wasn't feeling the movements yet, and was quite worried (she's a natural worrier) that she couldn't tell if baby was OK. She still uses it now at 29 weeks to check in on baby once a day, or if he doesn't move for an extended period. It was a fair chunk of money, but we figured we could use it again for the next baby in a few years' time, and then pass/sell it on to someone else.
If you don't mind me asking, which one did you order and how much is it to hire?0 -
please please please do not buy a doppler!!!
I am a midwife and am on a mission to educate people not to waste their money. Most people say they want it for reassurance but do you know what you are listening for? how fast should the herat rate be? what if it was slow? or fast? or irregular? or you could not find it? How can you differentiate between your pulse?
The best way that mums can monitor the health of their baby is by observing the fetal movements if you have low movements or an unusual pattern contact your midwife/hosp/birth centre.
As mw's and DR's we train for years to learn about the pattern of the fetal heart and even we need to refer to a collegue sometimes so please these are the most dangerous thngs ever in my opinion please dont waste your money on something that could give you false reassurance, if you are worried then see your mw
Rant over sorry and good luck to all with your preg'sNot setting myself any comp targets this year, didnt seem to work last year!!! £120.98/£2008
