I haven't got an overdue appointment.

I've got a hospital appointment at 36 weeks. I've seen my community midwife at my GP's surgery or home the rest of the time, and have just made appointments on an as and when basis depending on when she next wanted to see me.
Here I go again on my own....

in northern ireland you always get an appointment on your due date to see whats happening - then they will give you a date for induction - up to 2 weeks from your due date.

Is anyone suffering from swollen ankles? Mine are so bad that I don't fit into any of my shoes now, and really have to force my feet into my trainers when I do go out.

I've been checked out regular and my blood pressure is low, urine normal etc., so it's nothing serious and just one of those things. It's annoying and uncomfortable though!

I've been wearing support pop socks and putting my feet up when I can during the day, and sleeping with my feet up on pillows, but nothing seems to work much.

    Hi all

I have just discovered I am 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant, which is a bit of shock, even though we were ttc, because we only decided 3 weeks ago to try and now here i am 4 weeks pg.

Is it worth going to the doctor yet? I am thinking of holding off for a fortnight or so because aside from tiredness, constipation, crazy boobs and extra juice downstairs, I don't have any sympotms yet.

I am in my final year at uni and will be doing my finals in 6-8 weeks, do you think they will take my pregnancy into account? I do feel already that my brain has been compromised. The other day i tried for 20 minutes to think of the word "cupboard" and I have developed a stutter.

I suffered horrendously with this during last year's mega hot weather - I googled and found it was water retention related and that contrary to what I'd expected, the advice was to drink more water. And it did actually help.

I went 13 days od with no.1. No.2 was 5 days before EDD. No.3 will turn up goodness knows when! I'm due 29.06.07. I have already got an appointment for 09.07.07 for induction assessment. I gotthe letter at christmas when i was only 13 weeks pregnant, now it's sitting on the side of the fridge just taunting me! I am convinced that I am going to be overdue just to tease me!. DD1 will be 4 on 03.07.07 so not sure if I can plan a party etc. Nevermind, I'm sure she is not too bothered.

    Congratulations and welcome! :)

It's totally up to you when you want to see the doctor. It's not like they will do much at the first appointment anyway, so don't get your hopes up (mine took my blood pressure, told me to eat well, and that's about it ). You probably won't see the midwife until 8-9 weeks at the very earliest, so there's no huge rush.

As for your finals - good luck! I am not sure whether you'd get any special treatment, you can ask them I guess. I know what you mean by pregnancy brain, though :rotfl:

I've just been browsing in Mothercare. Everything is so expensive! From prams to carseats to cot mobiles to raincovers to baby bjorn carrying device thingys! Good grief. Thankfully our bundle's not due till october, so can plan a list with military precision to go find stuff at carboots and other sales - failing that, send some hints to the grandparents :D. Baby stuff is like cars - comparatively worthless the minute it leaves the forcourt.

I'm aiming at being overdue, slightly. EDD 2nd oct - I wanna give birth on the 10th. I was born on the 10th, got married on the 10th, and my mother was overdue with both her kids. Though I'm sure I'll change my mind mid-august.

At the moment I'm trying to plan our last 'couple' holiday, although with no spare cash this is proving rather hard work . Initially I wanted to go see Rome - always meant to do this, but too am lazy, so next idea was spain - sea, pool - hubby says too expensive - let's stay somewhere in Britain. Which seems to be the most expesive option so far . Ho hum. I'll just get an inflatable baby pool for the garden then  .

Last thing on my mind is - where is my fundus!? I have no idea where I'm keeping this 8-10 cm baby. I can't feel anything. Asked hubby to feel it out and all he could do is insult me - 'can't feel anything through all that fat' was his quote.

jbbonce, congrats - you absolutely sound like you're having all the pregnancy symptoms, but that is not why we go see the docs. From my experience they don't really care what symptoms you are or are not having as long as they are not excessive. But you can get the ball rolling on free prescriptions and antenatal appointments. But there is no hurry. By the time your exams come you'll be 10/11 weeks gone. I'd ask advice from the tutors or whomever, as I became really ditzy in pregnancy and have trouble answering any questions let alone sit exams, so maybe they'll take it into account. You must take them now though, as re-taking next year might not be an option when baby gets all your attention.

If you go to see the doctor now they can give you a maternity exemption form. So you get free prescriptions and you can get your folic acids on prescription. You should start taking folic acids ASAP till at least 12 weeks.
