So here I am munching on fresh pineapple, having had a curry for tea. Desperate measure :rotfl:
The Queen Charlotte's hospital book recommends tweaking your nipples to start labour. I kid you not.:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T0

Congratulations! Moonbeam. I'm glad you had a pleasent experience.
Mothercare is really expensive and my workplace gave me £50.00 in vouchers for mothercare. I do appreciate it but would of preferred the money.0

I've just been browsing in Mothercare. Everything is so expensive! From prams to carseats to cot mobiles to raincovers to baby bjorn carrying device thingys! Good grief. Thankfully our bundle's not due till october, so can plan a list with military precision to go find stuff at carboots and other sales - failing that, send some hints to the grandparents . Baby stuff is like cars - comparatively worthless the minute it leaves the forcourt. . Baby stuff is like cars - comparatively worthless the minute it leaves the forcourt.
 Hi Agutka,
I'd like to suggest that you check out Kiddicare (https://www.kiddicare.co.uk) too. I was driving myself mad making lists of things I think I'll need (read: things I want!) from NCT online and Mothercare and the lists were getting very expensive. I spent a happy three hours on the Kiddicare website the other night and was AMAZED at how cheap everything was and have heard some great things about their delivery and customer service.I'm aiming at being overdue, slightly. EDD 2nd oct - I wanna give birth on the 10th. I was born on the 10th, got married on the 10th, and my mother was overdue with both her kids. Though I'm sure I'll change my mind mid-august.
I'd love my baby to come on 14 July (due on 20 July) - silly really, but I like the date and means I'm more likely to be able to attend a close friend's wedding at the start of August, 2.5/3 hours drive away. Wishful thinking, eh!Last thing on my mind is - where is my fundus!? I have no idea where I'm keeping this 8-10 cm baby. I can't feel anything. Asked hubby to feel it out and all he could do is insult me - 'can't feel anything through all that fat' was his quote.
I promise, hand on bump, you'll be able to feel it soon. How far gone are you now? About 13/14 weeks? The baby and your uterus have just moved out from behind your pelvis. I know it's frustrating but you'll have a bump before you know it. Mine took longer than most to appear due to being a few stone overweight before I got preggers and now at 25+6, I am finally starting to look pregnant and not just even fatter. I have found this very frustrating, but at least my bump is here now.
 Happy pregnancy!

oh blimey I'm not on for a few days and so much has happened
jbbonce Yes go and see your GP just to get the process of seeing a midwife under way and so you're in the system. Speak to your advisor of studies now about what time off you're allowed, what to do if you end up with a midwife appointment on an exam day etc etc. Midwife appointments can be like gold dust depending on where you are... You won't necessarily get extra help with your finals but if any of your grades are borderline between bands then it's helpful for the exam board to have details of things like pregnancy as it may boost your grade ever so slightly. And should you be a borderline fail on anything it will mean it doesn't get counted with the same weight and may mean you get a pass... It may also mean you can delay an exam for a day or so if you end up with morning sickness or may be allowed to take the exam somewhere other than the exam hall... Universities are fairly flexible but take time to sort things out so the more you can think about these things now the better.
 Moonbeam Congrats!
and for all those with mushy brains I'm with you!
and I highly recommend registering with your local Freecycle, I've got a cot and had offers of other bits but don't have anywhere to store them yet and there are often bundles of clothes etc on offer. We'll need to get a new mattress for the cot (there's a link between reusing mattresses and cot death for those of you who don't know) but otherwise it's in good condition and saves us spending money.0

I've just been browsing in Mothercare. Everything is so expensive!
Definitely look at kiddicare, also have a look at your local Freecycle http://www.freecycle.org/. I signed up to get postings from all my local ones and got heaps of baby clothes, toys and baby gym free! Some people even get posh buggies and cots free, but you have watch the postings like a hawk!
Look out for NCT nearly-new sales in your area http://www.nct.org.uk/local/events, and ask your friends with babies for cots, buggies, etc. you could have or borrow.
Also bear in mind that you don't need to buy EVERYTHING: I found books like The "Which?" Guide to Baby Products by Sian Morrissey really helpful for hints on what is essential and what's a merely a nice-to-have. (There are loads of baby books like this at your local library, another money saving hint ) And try to resist buying too many cutesy babygros or designer items - bubby won't care much for them! ) And try to resist buying too many cutesy babygros or designer items - bubby won't care much for them!
Hope this helps, and hope you have your bub on the 10th as you wish! - I'm due next week and my husband wanted our bub to be born on his birthday - today! I don't think it's going to happen...

I have been so tired throughout (from about week 6) that I've not been able to work and I barely left the house for 2 months and now at 20 wks I still have to have at least 3-4 quiet days a week where I'm basically in bed.Feel a bit like no one really buys into how tired it can make you though - not that I want lashings of sympathy but that slight look of doubt - as though your pregnancy doesn't count until it hides your feet.
If you've any history of ME or CFS then those symptoms can recur during pregnancy (probably the cause of my fatigue) and you can get your blood checked to make sure you're not deficient in any vitamins of anything (I had low sodium and was told to eat crisps etc and it has helped). Most women find it gets easier in the second trimester but you're still tired...0

I'm 16 weeks on saturday! I have a bump already, but that's my usual fat and I can suck it in , I'm wearing maternity trousers (carboots and ebay) but in a size smaller than my usual, and they fit perfectly. I'm just looking for that hardness. I know the baby is there, we have photos and I heard the heartbeat last week. But then my boobs haven't grown at all either , I'm wearing maternity trousers (carboots and ebay) but in a size smaller than my usual, and they fit perfectly. I'm just looking for that hardness. BTW, do you ALL work for Kiddiecare :rotfl:
I wouldn't dream, much to the disgust of my mother, of buying anything new from a shop (unless they had a sale) - the internet is so much cheaper. And besides I am lucky enough to be getting lots of bits and pieces off family and friends who have boys at the 2 year stage of life, so lots of redundant clothes, toys etc. The only hope my baby has for new things is if it's a girl!
It's just that Mothercare is the only shop around here to have a look and see what's out there. There's only so much info you can get from a photo.:wall:0
