Hello, can I play and join the list too?!

I've just realised I'm (only just!) pregnant. Due 10th December.
It came as a bit of a shock, my last child (daughter) was born 10 years ago - it was her birthday Sunday.

I did get pregnant last April but I sadly lost it having had the IUD I had removed. Now finding out I ws pregnant last year was a huge shock  - I found out 6 weeks after my mum died.

Since the miscarriage we didn't use contraception - I did try abstinance but hubby didn't usually let me :D. So it shouldn't have been a surprise but we weren't trying.

Anyway, sinced telling hubby about said baby, he hasn't spoken too me. He hasn't touched/cuddled me and certainly not warmed my feet! I'm waiting for the shock to wear off for him before we discuss it any further.
He didn't want me to keep the last baby but saw I couldn't terminate so reluctantly agreed.

The problem we have (as many do) is finances are very very tight and another child (this would make 3) will obviously streatch things very thinly.
But I'm sure we'll muddle through.

Anyway I was wondering if some of the other mums to be could maybe start a thread on the cheapest/best places to buy essentials like prams/buggys, car seats etc???:D

Hi, we're expecting our fourth which was a complete suprise for us aswell. Same here abstinence didn't work!!! Anyway what I wanted to say was that we got a moses basket and a cot on Freecycle which I'm sure they'll have in your area, and a neighbour was getting rid of her pram, so we haven't spent a penny. Having a baby does not need to be expensive and the majority of second hand stuff is in pretty good nick. I'm intending to hit Poundstretchers (or is it Instores now??) for cheap vests and babygros because they outgrow them so fast and buy whatever baby products are on offer each week.

My OH was pretty stunned at first but I'm now 19 weeks and showing and can feel movement and he's showing a lot more interest!

You'll be fine money wise, we all just muddle through somehow. And the baby certainly won't care that its babygro isnt the best money can buy!!!
They took my signature away!!!!

It's recommended you buy a new mattress and moses basket mattress as there's an increased risk of cot death if you use second hand mattresses... kiddicare do them cheaply though

and car boots always have baby things too

yeah, in instore they are 7 for £5 and the same price in asda. I'm sure they'll all look the same covered in sick anyway.
:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T

    Many thanks Izoomzoom.

It hasn't sunk in yet, in fact I feel fine......apart from the bloating, gas, constipation, headaches, loss of appetite and OH's interrogation regarding my diet:-)

i did post a couple of times when i initially found out i was pregnant but then i decided that it might be tempting fate (it makes sense in my head) so i have been lurking for the last couple of months.
i am not having too bad a time of it, lots of nausea and completely off my food but i am hoping that will pass soon cause i am 14 weeks. does anyone else find it really nerve wracking telling people?? i know i will get a good reaction but i am shaking like a leaf before hand.
does anyone have any tips for flying long haul?? going to be going to new zealand to visit family when i am just over 18 weeks.

  • incognito! :hello: I was wondering where you were. It's good to see you on the list - I know what you mean about tempting fate, I started to get a bit paranoid myself.

I'm 14 weeks too and still waiting for the energy levels to rise/nausea to end/appetite to return - it had all better get a move on

No tips of flying from me, can't stand it... sounds worth it though for New Zealand!

hello (again), I'm still not brave enough to add myself to the edd list, although I survived the doctors!

I am now 7+1, and since I am a little overweight (and its my first pregnancy) its ridiculous to think I'd be showing yet ... but none of my trousers have fit for weeks?! Is this just bloating? (Is it possible to be THIS bloated??)

Anything I can do about it?

fac73:hello: i am so glad to know that you are still feeling out of sorts too - everyone says you feel better after 12 weeks but i am still a waste of space, thank god my OH has been understanding. i think i am still in denial about the whole thing though. at the scan i was relieved there was a heartbeat and that there was only 1  but i just looked at the screen and saw a baby, i couldnt really get to grips with the fact that it was MY baby. then i felt horrendously guilty about feeling like that.

I had that at the beginning. Huge belly, I assumed it was the pregnancy, but it was just my digestion going haywire. A few erm 'incidents' :o later I was back to normal. I guess I am slightly bigger now, as I couldn't do up my more fitted skirts at the weekend, but haven't put on any weight, so it's just getting re-distributed.
