Good luck rjh - not sure about whether miscarriages can be genetic, sorry, but if you are trying to conceive, it's probably worth starting to take folic acid now. Vitamin-wise, if you do decide to take a supplement, choose one that is designed for pregnancy, as normal ones can be too high in vitamin A.

    Oh, and have fun 'trying'!!

    RJH,

Don't they recommend hanging on a month after the pill. I seem to recall from reading my pill instructions that it's so they've got a 'true' period to work your dates out from? Although I've also heard that when you come off the pill for that first month your fertility goes into overdrive so you're more likely to catch on! Swings and roundabouts really!

Er, yes, prolly not an overly helpful post, sorry about that, but good luck :-)

    Hi guys
Hope you don't mind me adding myself to list. I'm due 11th May, and getting really impatient now. I'm finally getting my head around easing up, and actually looking forward to going on mat leave on 24th April. Was going to try for 4th May, but Midwife and OH told me not to be so pigheaded and stubborn. :rotfl:
Anyone else really dreading going over-due???
    What's he building in there???
Debt at highest £30,450 (Dec 05)
    Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)
How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave

    Me!

I'm scared of being induced with an oxytocin drip. My Mam had a bad reaction to it, and I had to be born by emergency c-section. Her muscles went into overdrive while I was still high up inside, and she was literally squashing me to death with each contraction.

Probably wouldn't happen to me, but it would still play on my mind if I had to be induced.

I'm also not keen on having my waters broken, membrane sweeps or any other interferance. Would rather just let nature take it's course!
Here I go again on my own....

I was induced with a drip, and it wasn't that bad (well, I was just happy to be actually getting somewhere after two days of contractions that didn't amount to anything!).

Did your mum have the wrong dose of the stuff or something? Sounds awful! Hopefully these days they know a bit more about these things (she says hopefully :o).

But I know what you mean, I don't fancy the idea of interference either.

She thinks she was given too strong a dose, as she went from nothing to full blown hurting like hell contractions in minutes.

Nobody complained in those days, and there was no PALS etc. She just never thought to question it at the time, but still wonders what really happened.

Hope you get some sleep saver mum, and see what tomorrow brings!

the only advantage of waiting is to get a better idea of dates but it's not essential. Just make sure you're taking folic acid and try to do all the general stuff of eating healthily, don't drink alcohol and if you smoke then quit... Also think about any medications you take, if you get hay fever you'll need to think about how you'll treat it and try to avoid things like ibuprofen. It's not essential but it'll help ease your worries if you get pregnant quickly...

We conceived the second month of vaguely trying and were a bit shocked it was so quick (OH wanted more practice time ;) )the GP laughed when we said this and said that it's very common. We're so used to hearing how hard it is to conceive but that's the minority rather than the majority...

    Good luck and enjoy!
