Not yet, but I'll let you know
Hoping to have a home birth when mine arrives next month. I've already done a birth plan with the community midwife.
We have to supply plastic sheeting or similar to protect the area where you want to give birth, towels, somewhere for midwife to wash her hands, and the usual stuff you would pack in a hospital bag.
I'll get a pack delivered at home from the hospital 3 weeks before my due date. This will have gas and air cylinders in, oxygen and all the midwifes bits and bobs that she needs.
I'll also get a prescription for the injection that makes the placenta come out faster (forgot the drug name!) and pethadine if I want it. I'll have to collect those from the chemist and store them in my fridge ready.
When I go into labour, I have to ring the labour ward and advise them that I am in labour. They will contact a community midwife who will come and check on me. Depending on how I'm doing, they'll either stay or go away and pop back later. Once I'm near the second stage, another midwife will arrive to assist with the delivery.
I'm really keen on it and hopfully I'll be able to tell you more once I've had my baby.
In the mean time, have a read of this site: http://www.homebirth.org.uk/
It's very useful and very interesting, especially the stories from other mothers. Here I go again on my own....0

            Good luck Moonbeam!!
I'm starting to think I can't afford to go back part time now to work after baby2 is born. I worked out my finances very roughly yesterday and if I can pay for a years travel pass upfront and I pay no money into the 'Shopping Account' (i.e. we never eat again), then each month, I'm left with a princely sum of £4    :eek:April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500

Oh no shortie! That's quite a......um.....tight budget. Have you tried putting an SOA (statement of affairs) on the Debt Free Wannabee board to see if they can make any suggestions for cutbacks? Have you checked that you are claiming everything you will be entitled to?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
