Congrats to all the newbies and welcome! :)

Justie, glad your scan went well! :) And what's this, you referring to the baby as 'he', are you trying to tell us something? :D

My 20 week scan is next week, can't wait.
tis a very definite boy, I'd like to say he takes after his father but... :rotfl:

it all seems very real now as he's moving tonnes and the scan was so obviously a baby as opposed to something that would one day become a real baby... I think I'm still in shock but really really pleased to be told that everything's ok and getting used to knowing the sex but still say 'it' a lot :rotfl:

If they're not certain then they won't say but as long as baby obliges it's pretty clear. I found the scan quite uncomfortable as it take a while (and I had a student so it took longer) I wanted to chuck up by the end and felt a little bruised for the rest of the day. It's amazing to see all the limbs and everything and to see baby moving though. :D

Hello! I'm full of a cold too - it's my 4th cold this year, and I've also had flu :(

I'm eating healthily (plenty of vitamins etc), and don't seem to be spending a lot of time with other 'ill' people so why on earth am I constantly blowing my nose, coughing and sneezing.......grrrr!

    Hi Snaggles,
I know exactly how you feel... am heavily bunged up, and 38 weeks tomorrow! Plans to see the in-laws at Easter may need to be cancelled, which is just as well 'coz I just want to stay in bed! Just typical that the weather looks fantastic outside, and I just wanna be out in the sun right now :(

Otherwise I've had a brilliant pregnancy so far, and am looking forward to seeing my lil'ling :D HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE! :EasterBun and take care.

jen - it's safe to take a normal dose of paracetamol to help with the pain.

Have you got a heat pad or a hot water bottle? Heat helps mine. I'm currently sitting on a head pad at the moment, as I've got pain today!

I have a wheat teddy that I can zap. I don't like taking any medicines really but think I'm just trying to hold off for the journey to Devon later, I'll make sure I have my paracetamol then. I have codeine from when I saw GP other week but was a bit reluctant to take that too often as I am worried my pain threshold will struggle with the labour and I'd like a water birth again which obviously means little pain relief.

I've tried to be active then rest rather than just sitting down all day. Went for slow walk around my village and pain was just bearable. Have been wearing the bandage for hour or so then taking it off as I don't know if it's too restricting for baby. I can still feel movements so I know he/she is ok.

Jen I don't think you're supposed to take codeine in your third trimester... you'd need to speak to your midwife or GP before you do so if you think you might need it call now before the weekend starts.

You may find that you're ok in the car - get in and out with your knees together as you would to remain demure in a short skirt... use a plastic bag on the seat if it helps you manoeuvre. And work out which is more comfortable for you to have you feet raised a little or flat on the floor. You may also find a hand towel rolled up and placed in the curve of your back helps ease some of the pain and helps your posture in the car.

I'd wear the bandage for walking but take it off for sitting (not easy in the car...). You are generally better off resting if you have SPD but moving a little every half an hour or so so that you don't seize up... Don't try and push through the pain.

Hi there. I'm 8 weeks pregnant and yesterday had my first mw appointment. She is really lovely, thank goodness! I was wondering if anyone has experience of a home birth as this is what I think I would like. I like the thought of it, but not sure if I could really cope with it. Where I am living, the hospital does not offer gas and air anyway, so I won't be missing out on that.
Everything I have heard about home births seems to be positive. What do you guys think about them?
Proud to be dealing with my debts
