            Thanks Justie,
My dad-in -law is irish and has great pleasure in telling me that i am pronoucing the name wrong have chosen to say it the "english" way as he calls it ...i reckon after a few pints of guiness it will be "my boy" anyway so figured there was no difference!! tee hee!!
have just had my hair doen today as have no realised i only have 3 weeks to go and have to get doen all of my maintance before i have no time left to myself!
cant quite reach my lady garden so will have to leave that..dont think i will be bothered whilst i am in labour anyway somehow!!
any tips on a jealous sibling...my little girl estelle who is 8 doesnt seem to be interested in the new arrival...just the fact that the baby seems to be having things bought for it all the time..

I love the idea of a home birth, and would love it in theory, but it's not for me, at least not this time.
When DS was born, he had the cord wrapped tightly around his neck 3 times and he wasn't breathing because of it, so they had to give him a bit of oxygen. It freaked me out so much, especially since nobody really explained it properly to me and I still don't know exactly how dangerous it was, I don't want to take any risks this time round.
Luckily, our local hospital has a brand spanking new midwife-led maternity unit which seems great (and clean ), so I'm hoping it's going to be nice. ), so I'm hoping it's going to be nice.
Good luck to everyone who's planning a home birth, though - oh the thought of my own bed after giving birth - bliss! 0 0

I have really bad pain in my pelvic area/joints whenever I have been lying down or sitting down and try to get up.
Does anyone know what this could be. I feel like an old women.
I didn't have this with my first pregnancy and the pain get really bad.0

India, it sounds like you have SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction). I have it just now and had it with my second pregnancy too. My first was fine. Talk to your midwife about the pain and they should be able to tell you if this is what you have. HUGS!Nicotine Free as of 17th December 06 :j0

Becles.... Me too, the iron tablets gave me the runs and I had been expecting constipation! I too gave up taking them and when my mw found out I got a right ticking off as I was booked in for a c section and you need healthy levels as you're likely to lose blood. Don't know if she was talking rubbish, but she said if that particular form of iron tablet disagreed with me the gp could prescribe alternatives. As it happened I gave the original tablets another try and that time was fine - so perhaps my problems coincided with a bug or something. But definitely ask your mw/gp about alternatives - my levels dropped to 9.something. The floradix was suggested to me as well but is very expensive - not sure whether you'd get it on prescription and don't think it would get your levels up to where you need them as effectively as iron tabs so would suggest you persevere so you can have your home birth. 0 and when my mw found out I got a right ticking off as I was booked in for a c section and you need healthy levels as you're likely to lose blood. Aw Becles, I just thought you might like a hug :grouphug:
Your friend is right, take a glass of fresh orange juice with every meal and try to include fortified breakfast cereals, red meat and green leafy veg in your diet. If you can do this you might be able to reduce the dose of iron tablets with some help from your GP or midwife? When my granny was pregnant with my dad the doctor prescribed Guinness  for her anaemia!
I have the same pregnancy clothes problem - no clothes, no money. But I have recently scored a few bargains from eBay - combat trousers for £2! A tenner would get you a whole new wardrobe!
On the subject of your mum all I can say is that it's you that's having a baby, not her, and whatever badness arises from your home birth you can bet it'll be forgotten in a flash when she meets baby. I've started to realise that when you're pregnant is NOT the time to be worrying about pleasing or appeasing others. You're tired and emotional and struggling physically, so sod them all! I really hope you feel better soon, but there's nothing wrong with feeling down. Sometimes it's best just to have a wallow and a good cry and then you can get up and get going again. 0 0

            Happy Mothers' Day, everyone
Baby was kicking like mad this morning - s/he must have realised it's a special day 0 0

I have really bad pain in my pelvic area/joints whenever I have been lying down or sitting down and try to get up.
Does anyone know what this could be. I feel like an old women.
I didn't have this with my first pregnancy and the pain get really bad.
India, it sounds like you might have SPD (Sympysis Pubis Dysfunction). It might sound a scary name, but it just means that your pelvic bones have relaxed a bit tooo much (many I wish the rest of my body -and mind- would do the same as my pelvis! :rotfl: ). As a result they can 'pinch' when moving in certain ways
I had it in my first pregnancy and am starting to get symptoms again now. It might not be that, so please don't take my word for it, but best thing is to speak to your midwife at your next appointment and mention SPD if she doesn't think there's anything you can do etc.. and if you've not got an appointment for a while, pop along to your doctor. I presume they can refer you to physio the same as the midwife can?
I only found out last time as my midwife noticed me wincing when I got getting onto the bed for her to feel the size of DS1... she then promptly said "does it hurt when I do this?" After picking me off the ceiling, she refered me to physio. Mine gave me a HUGE belt which I stupidly was too embarassed to wear at work and some tips on how to help the pain. Beccles posted these above somewhere too...
Hope you get a good response from your midwife/GP
 Take care

India, it sounds like you have SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction). I have it just now and had it with my second pregnancy too. My first was fine. Talk to your midwife about the pain and they should be able to tell you if this is what you have. HUGS![/QUOTE]
Thank you. I will contact my midwife0
