Congrats Teerah :T
I've never heard the name Lorcan before. Where does it come from and is there a meaning behind it?
Sorry for being nosey, but I love hearing why people chose their baby names, especially if they are unusual. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Thanks Becles
It is an Irish name and means little fierce one

Congratulations to Teerah and broomey! :Ti thought you had to stay in hosp for at least 6 hours after giving birth? thats just what i heard, though, its not based on experience as this is our first baby.
There are no hard and fast rules, Emma. So long as the baby is okay and you feel up to it, you can leave hospital as soon as you like, even after your first baby!
Most people stay a few hours at least - just because they are physically exhausted and go straight to sleep. It also depends on what time of day or night you deliver and whether you're breastfeeding and how confident you are etc.
I ended up staying three nights in hospital after my first because I just felt so awful and I was having problems breastfeeding! I want this one at home!0 -
well saw a different midwife today for my 16 week check and she's taken my pelvic pain seriously and has referred me to the physio (although she says it could be a while before I get an appointment). She said they tend not to use girdles and things there and there isn't really much that they can do but she said my OH should offer to carry me everywhere :rotfl:0

ps thanks for the info on how long to stay in hospital, i only wanna stay in as long as i have to, im a st. nurse that dont like being the patient!0 -
Snaggles... how did you manage to keep it at bay? I'm only 16 weeks and am starting to get symptoms... if there's a way to stop it progressing I'd love to know please. I'm seeing my Midwife on Monday so will ask her to refer me too so I can get a belt again (I gave my last one to my cousin but she's gone through enough martial problems right now so I don't really feel it's the time or place to ask her for it back after 4 years
I didn't realise it caused Hip alignment problems... I was wondering this morning why the joint where my leg joins the hip was clicking (not hurting at all, I could just 'hear it in my head'.... if that makes sense :rotfl: . Maybe that's why I could hear it..?
- Sleeping on my side with a pillow between my legs and pillows behind and in front of me to stop me rolling out of position.
- Never standing on one leg - so sitting down to put socks/shoes etc on
- Making sure I don't walk too far (seems to aggravate it for me)
- Keeping my legs together (lol), ie when I get in/out of a car, I sit on the seat and then swing both my legs round together
- Sorry to be crude but avoiding the missionary position as it seems to make it worse - there are positions that don't make it worse but you need a good beanbag lol!
- Wearing big knickers to give extra support!
- Avoiding high heels, but not wearing completely flat shoes as I'm not used to them so they're quite hard on my back
- Not doing breast stroke when I go swimming - just a pathetic sort of doggy paddle
- Sitting with a cushion behind the small of my back to help my posture
- Never pushing on through the pain - if something hurts, I stop
- Not sitting on very hard surfaces, like metal or wooden chairs without a cushion
- Pushing a light supermarket trolley when I walk round the supermarket (not a heavy, full trolley though as this would make it worse.
I'm sure there are other things I do too - will post more if I think of any. The support belt will help I'm sure. I hope your symptoms don't get too much worse - the clicking where your leg joins your hip definitely sounds like a symptom - I get this too.

I thought it depends on the hospital, as some have their own rules.
At the hospital where I was having DS, you had to stay at least 24 hours with your first, and 6 with second. We've now moved, so I'm not sure what the rules are here, but hopefully won't have to stay too long
I think the main reason they keep you in so long is to make sure the feeding is established and you (vaguely) know what you're doing - ha!0
