I had blood tests taken by the midwife at 16 weeks and she asked if I'd felt any movements. I hadn't at that point but felt kicks about 2 days later.

This is my second baby and the kicks have been really strong from the outset! I was in real discomfort the other night after eating a big meal with baby kicking my insides with real force! :o I'm only 22 weeks. I didn't feel any kicks first time around until just after 20 weeks.

Phew.... I think I got thumped a few times earlier and started to wonder if I was being super concious. I was 22 weeks-ish with DS1 so thought I imagined it.

I didn't 'glow' carrying DS1 either... don't get me wrong, I love him to bits and wouldn't go back for the world, but I wasn't very maternal and am not this time either. The kicks are comforting from the prespective that you kow things are still okay in there, but that's it.. it never made me feel gooey or anything.

It took 3 and a half years for me to feel 'up to' birth again so I already doubt there will be a number 3.

However on the good side....... against all stats I slept better than I ever had before when I was pregnant and I am again now. Okay, I had zillions of loo-stops, but even those aside I still slept really well. It used to amaze DH that I'd be sparko while he could feel a boxing match going on in my tummy! :rotfl:

  • Not sure if anyone on here can help me.

My buggy has collapsed and my son is nearly 4, but I still need a good reliable buggy as I walk miles with it (don't drive). I love Maclarens as they are so easy to push but can't afford one.

Looking at the £35 one in argos MAMU, got a local mothercare too. Anyone advise on one approx. £40.

    Thanks, need one soon.

Also, did anyone get diarrhea before they realised that they were pregnant, not sure if i am but have had it for a few days, no stomach ache though. Thanks
    now mum of 4!!!

If you want cheap and cheerful for a four year old - I would recommend a Mothercare "Jive" buggy. They aren't as nice to push as a Macleren - but they have a nice wide back - good for an older child. You'll need to buy a raincover as well - Argos used to be the cheapest.
Check the mothercare website - they had last years model of Jive (england) quite cheap the other week.
Otherwise - check ebay, local bootfairs or local newspaper for a cheap buggy to tide you over until 4yo ready to walk all those miles with you!

I need a rant about my health visitor.

Our toddler only goes to preschool for 2 and a half hours 3 times a week. That's what they offer and I'm very happy with that. It leaves us lots of time to do our own thing, visit his friends, see family etc. She was very sniffy about that and tried to talk me into getting him a place that takes him for 5 hours a day. WHY?! Why would I give up work to look after my children to then have to put them in someone else's care for that amount of time? Fine if we wanted to but clearly we don't.

THEN she was all 'Oh, another boy.' Sad face. 'How do you feel about that?' Sympathetic face.

How does she think I feel about that? Absolutely fantastic. I've managed to get through the pregnancy and got my son here safely. I'm blimmin delighted. Why is she sympathising with me?!

    Grrr.

    Thanks for reading!
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

ah bless there's nothing worse than a well meaning professional

Just ignore her and get on with how you want to do things. She's probably got her heart in the right place and it's really hard for HVs to get it right all the time. My friend who's a trained HV has recently had another baby and says now she'd be totally different if she was still practising from how she was after the first child. Her advice and her way of dealing with the mums would be much more about trusting your own instincts and less about the book learning...

Gingham ribbon- don't worry about your rude health visitors comments, unfortunately some people are just that way inclined. Hope that things go better next time.

Well I posted a few weeks ago about sore back, Gp diagnosed sciatica. It's very up and down at the moment. Finding I've had to slow right down as I just can't walk like I had been. I'm usually rushing here there and everywhere, so I suppose it's about time I slowed myself down a bit anyway, as I'm nearly six months pregnant.

Gingham, I would've felt annoyed about the boy comment - that was a bit unnecessary and unprofessional. I don't know why people get so obsessed with the babies' gender if you have more than one. I hear it all the time, "Oh I bet you want a girl!" Well, no, not really - hand on heart. I'd love another boy, and I'd love a girl - a lovely healthy baby is what I want. :)

    Sorry to hear that GR.

When mine were little, I used to take what the HV said with a pinch of salt. Your natural mothering instincts are far more in tune with what baby needs ;)
Here I go again on my own....
