I've felt the kicks too, Justie, and I'm at the same stage as you. :) Especially in the evening, when I stretch out on the sofa, that's when it starts. It's lovely :)Regarding enjoying the pregnancy (sorry can't seem to be able to quote posts at the moment - ?), I really enjoyed my first one, but this one so far is a bit different. There always seems to be something wrong with me: first the nausea, then a never-ending cold, then an ear infection, now a horrible heat rash (in March!!! What am I going to be like in August???). It really hasn't been very enjoyable thus far :(I'm really hoping things will change for the better though - I do love the thought of having a baby inside me :)

Shortie - I'm expecting my second and have felt the kicks since 15+4. With my first one, it was at 16 weeks, so I must have quite a sensitive uterus :D Everyone's different, though :)

    Hello!
    have a quick question..
does any one know what the rules are regarding mat leave whilst claiming tax credits...
I cant seem to get any answers as you have to log on all your details on the tax credit website before they give you a "ready reckoner" on how much you are entitled to!
in my case i get 6 weeks full pay from my job and the rest as S.M.P (112.75)
so will tax credits asses my actual income or what i anually take home if i was still working normally? ie not pregnant!!
As far as I am aware, they base your tax credits on last years income but your current working hours. I think however that if at the end of the year you have earned more or less than the previous year then they can adjust the amount they give you. (Although they ignore any increase unless it's more than ~£25k I think.) If you are expecting your income to be significantly less than the previous year (which I guess will be quite likely if you are being paid less) you should inform them as they may adjust their calculations so that you don't have to wait till the end of the year to get the extra money. Best thing is probably to phone or write to them explaining what your income was for this year and what you expect it to be for next year and see what they say.

When you are on Ordinary Maternity Leave (up to 9 months if you are due on or after 1st April) they count you as if you are working the same number of hours you were doing before you went on maternoty leave. If you take any Additional Maternity Leave (the unpaid bit), they count you as working no hours for that period.

    Hi all,
Am I alone in loving being pregnant? Every pregnant women I've met seem to have lots to say about the various aches and pains - and I have them and the odd bad days too.

I'd love to hear how you all feel - has pregnancy just been a complete pain, and what are the positives for you?
I think the way pregnancy affects everyone is different. Only this morning I was telling my husband that the time I was admitted to hospital via A&E and was classified as the highest priotiy after life threatening wasn't as bad as pregnancy. I had sickness from week 3 to 20 then 29 to 31. I lost half a stone by 7 weeks (despite already being slightly underweight) and had to be admitted to hospital. I am constantly tired and thirsty (despite drinking a minumum of 3 litres per day). Every time I get a cold (currently on 3rd this winter) it is about 4x worse than usual and lasts about 4x as long.

That's the main things I can think of offhand and I really hate being pregnant. I can't wait for the baby to be born but it has been hard to be excited about it because of being so ill all the time. The only positive I can think of is that I will get a baby at the end of it.

I had blood tests taken by the midwife at 16 weeks and she asked if I'd felt any movements. I hadn't at that point but felt kicks about 2 days later.

This is my second baby and the kicks have been really strong from the outset! I was in real discomfort the other night after eating a big meal with baby kicking my insides with real force! :o I'm only 22 weeks. I didn't feel any kicks first time around until just after 20 weeks.

I'm glad you're enjoying it - women have more than one baby so by the laws of averages some women must like it :D

I'm not one of them so far...

I didn't enjoy being pregnant either time, sickness and discomfort, not being able to eat and drink what I wanted, feeling like my body wasn't my own, fears about giving birth etc etc, believe me, it all fades from your memory once your gorgeous little bundle is there in your arms and you just can't drag your eyes away from them for one second *sigh* :D:D:D:D

I'm even beginning to contemplate having a third and DD2 is only 4 months - I swore never again whilst I was expecting. The brain plays funny tricks on us girls

I swing from loving it to hating it!

I seem to have had loads of niggly things wrong this time - bad nausea at the beginning, SPD, swollen feet and ankles so I only fit into trainers, irritated nasal passages, and today I've been told I'm anaemic and I've picked up a prescription for iron tablets. Last night the baby was kicking right up in my chest and I couldn't sleep, and I'm tired, achy and I wish it was over.

But then when baby kicks during the day, or when I'm in the bath and I can see movement ripple across my bump, or when (s)he kicks along to my hubby's music (he's a DJ and plays new releases for my opinion!), or when my sons talk to baby through my tummy, or when strangers comment when I'm out and about - then I just love it!
Here I go again on my own....
