On a brighter note, I have felt baby moving this week - from little wriggles on Monday to a proper kick this afternoon. It's discovered that it's fun to tapdance on my bladder, which is a bit uncomfortable ...
... but lovely.
Try playing some music. Something fairly loud with a decent bass beat.
Hubby is a DJ and is forever testing music and home, and judging from the kicks, I'm growing a 90's dance fanHere I go again on my own....0 -
We still haven't told DS, who's 3. Anyone have any ideas of the best time/way to tell him?
We told our four year old a few days after the 12 week scan.
I've bought a copy of THIS BOOK and we've been reading it at bedtime.
Both of us love it and it has given him lots of ideas about the baby! He's started to say 'goodnight' to baby through the 'tummy telephone' thanks to a line in the book!
If you wanted a copy, it would be cheaper from www.play.com as P&P is included.
We also took our boy along to the 20 week scan - he found it a bit of an anti-climax though. (I think he was expecting to see baby bouncing around in there like a power ranger!)He has decided that the baby has to be a boy - because it didn't have long hair!!! :rotfl:

Another good book is an Usbourne one - I have the first experience collection in one book. (from the book depository.)
My 3 yo dd keeps laughing and giggling at the picture of the mummy bf the baby!
Also - never seen her laugh so much when we told how the hard I'll squeeze daddy's hand while I push the baby out!!!!!
She's spent the last couple of weeks walking round with a cloth in her t shirt, telling us that her baby will be cut out of her tummy, she's not giving birth the same way as mummy! Also - her baby will be four when it's born, so that it's a big girl like her! Can you imagine - 9 months is bad enough!:p0 -
Thanks jo_b and cathys1 - the thanks button's not working at the moment. We told him this morning, and I think it went well. He stared at my tummy for ages in disbelief, and then tried looking through my bellybutton! :DThen he announced that he was going to have a baby in his tummy too (he's actually done that before, with teddies under his top), and was a bit disappoined when we told him men and boys can't have babies. :)We're thinking of taking him to the 20 week scan too, mainly due to childcare issues on that day, but it might be quite nice.Oh yes, and he's convinced it's a boy baby.(Why are the smilies not working either!!)0

Oh yes, and he's convinced it's a boy baby.
My eldest was two when I had the youngest. He was convinced it was a boy and wanted to call him James after the red engine in the Thomas stories.
If anyone suggested it might be a baby girl, he would reply "my Mammy wouldn't do that to me"
Luckily it was a baby boy, so we let him call him James as I do like that name anyway. I think that helped with bonding and all that, as he really helped look after his baby brother.
He also wanted to get involved with feeding, but I breast fed so he couldn't really help. So instead he used to stuff the dogs head up his top and feed her insteadHere I go again on my own....0 -

I bet the dog was really pleased!

I got myself a V-shaped pillow from Argos for £5.99, and used it for the first time last night. It's great - really soft and comfy - I was hugging it like a big monkey :DIt'll be good for breastfeeding as well. I never had one with DS - just used a normal cushion/pillow, but this one's going to be great. Here's a pic if anyone's interested: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1270475.htm0

Hello!
Having previously joined the forum on reclaiming bank charges i thought i would have a little look about at the other forums and came accross this one by accident! its was a nice suprise to find a whole forum dedicated to us mums!(or mums to be!)
I am expecting my 2nd baby on the 9th of April, We have been told its a boy and i already have an 8 year old girl so one of each!
lucky us!
have a quick question..
does any one know what the rules are regarding mat leave whilst claiming tax credits...
I cant seem to get any answers as you have to log on all your details on the tax credit website before they give you a "ready reckoner" on how much you are entitled to!
in my case i get 6 weeks full pay from my job and the rest as S.M.P (112.75)
so will tax credits asses my actual income or what i anually take home if i was still working normally? ie not pregnant!!
My bloody brain doesnt work properly anymore..good job im on mat leave in 2 weeks time!
any advice would be much appriciated!!0 -
Hi Saver Mum can't help with the benefit query but just wanted to say welcome and hope all goes well with the baby.
I think I've felt mine move but I'm only 16 weeks so it may just have been gas
And I'm drinking OJ by the gallon at the moment :cool:0
