I wanted to wait as long as possible before telling people but as I was so ill with morning sickness (in hospital at 7 weeks) we ended up having to tell everybody pretty early on. We figured that everybody would either have guessed the reason I was ill (which quite a few people had) or else they wouldn't have guessed and would be rather concerned about my sudden illness so it made sense to tell people.

Congrats Maralum and Middleman & Mrs Middleman :)

We told close family pretty much straight away, and my best friend, who's pregnant as well. I was unsure whether to tell others, and in the end didn't until after the scan.

Oh, and as I recently found out, the first person to find out after me and DH was a guy at DH's work - who I've never even met! It was my fault really for sending DH a text after I did the test (I didn't mean to do it by myself, of course it was supposed to be a shared experience, LOL), and DH was so shocked he told he guy sitting next to him... :rotfl:

We still haven't told DS, who's 3. Anyone have any ideas of the best time/way to tell him?

We told DD who was also 3 at around 12 weeks once it was "safe". She had been requesting a sister for ages, so was totally over the moon. Some might say it's better to tell them nearer the baby's arrival but we didn't find the length of the pregnancy a problem - she shared in it, coming for the scan, feeling the kicks, kissing the bump and talking to it etc. As we had done with DD, we found out the sex at the 20 week scan, so she knew she had a sister - which was lucky as if it had been a brother, I think she might have sent him back :rotfl: She's not keen on little boys at the moment - long may that last ;)

Wow, the first twins on the MSE Preg Club! That makes us feel special. Thanks for the links. I'll make sure that my wife and I sign up to all those.

I'm the money saving one in the relationship - my wife is the money SPENDING one so I'll be pushing as hard as possible for all the good deals.

I tried the Lansinoh breast pads as Lloyds were out of their own brand (had a voucher). I've since tried Tommee Tippee ones and they are exactly the same, nice and thin with a sticker on. Think these are probably cheaper and I can pick them up at Asda instead of making a special trip. Hope this helps!
Hi Lu, thanks for the tip. :) I don't think I tried the Tommee Tippee ones (am not sure if they were around 4 yrs ago?), but will give them a go.

Also, do you remember where you got the voucher from? ;)
