Hi all just want to pop my head in. I'm about 8 weeks pregnant and really not enjoying it. It's a planned pregnancy but I wasn't at all prepared as I thought it would take a while for us to conceive and it didn't. I'm crying all the time, nauseous and tired after even the slightest exertion. I'm finding it really hard to work (writing up PhD thesis) as my head has gone to mush and I just want to go to bed all the time. All my friends are over the moon for us but I just feel really out of control. I'm also terrified I'm going to lose it so it's not like I don't want this baby I'm just finding it hard to get used to being pregnant. I'm finally being able to eat again after finding it really hard with the nausea, which is helping a bit but I just feel so weird about the whole thing.

Am I the only one to feel like this?

Hi Justie, congratulations on your pregnancy. Just thought I'd say that with both of my pregnancies, I felt really strange for the first few weeks. First time around was an accident although not unwanted, just a little sooner than we'd planned, ie 12 weeks pregnant at the wedding!! Second time round was planned and like you, happened quickly at first attempt and I had lots of nausea. Both times I felt very tearful although I wasn't upset about being pregnant either time. I think it's the hormones mainly - well, them combined with feeling sick and anxieties about miscarrying (and for me guilt at "betraying" first daughter by having another baby - mad or what?!) - not really conducive to making you feel on top of the world. I found that once I got into my second trimester both times, I felt a million times better and much more positive. My advice is to hang in there and you should feel better soon (especially as you are now eating again - that doesn't help at all). But rest assured you are not alone

Thanks - I actually feel better for having just said it but I'm glad to hear it gets better I can't cope with much longer of feeling like this :rolleyes:

Not pf yest. Had mmc in Oct and currently ttc again. I'm 34 (35 in March!) and hubby is 37. Had blood test and showed wasn't ovulating so started Clomid and caught 1st time but sadly had a mmc. Just been getting back to normal and took Clomid a few days ago. Wish me luck everyone!!

I could do with all the help I can get with regards to cutting back and saving money. I work full time at the mo but would cut back to 4 days, possibly 3.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

With regards to the issue of consent - it doesn't actually make a difference whether the child has the same surname as the child or not or, indeed, whether the parents are married to each other. The issue is around 'parental responsibility'.

The mother automatically has parental responsibility for the child from birth. The father also has PR if parents are married to each other or the father is named on the birth certificate (applies to children registered after 2003).

There are other ways to get PR (eg: residence order, parental responsibility order or agreement) but those are the most common.:)
