  • Hi Everyone,

Please can i join you club i`m TTC. We`ve been unofficially trying for the last few months but plan to step it up this year. When are you most likely to get preggy? I was told it was 5 days after you finish your period but everywhere i look tells me something different. Do you ever feel bombarded with information? most of it contridicting?

Good Luck and Congratulations to everyone expecting!!!!

  • hi guys, I am new here, 27-yr old working mother of one wonderful 20-month old and TTC again after a miscarriage in september. biggest money-saving tip I would have for expectant and new mother is buy a bundle of 6-12 month clothes on ebay!! don't EVER buy new baby clothes., they will be worn two or three times then grown out of! Anyway, good luck to everyone on here, for all you first-time mums, I am so jealous of you, it is the most amazing experience to hold your first child in your arms for the first time...no matter how hard it gets in the early months, treasure evry moment girls, it passes so quickly. I'm waffling. Anyone with any tips for conceiving post-miscarriage and post-colposcopy (was a nasty few months there) would be hugely appreciated.

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that I have my first scan tomorrow at 13+2 and I'm absolutely br*cking it. You would think that the many many symptoms, no period since early October, 7 BFP pregnancy tests and the thickening waistline would give it away - but I am absolutely TERRIFIED that there will be nothing there.

Please tell me I'm not the only eejit to have felt like this? If all is well, I'll post on Tuesday and let you know how it went.

    Valentine xxx

    Good Luck!!
I was absolutely terrified too!! I cried like a silly !!!!!!, and couldn't look at the screen until they told me that baby was ok! Then i cried some more!!
Will keep fingers crossed for you!!

That and take full advantage of your local Freecycle group! This is our first time plus no rellies to "inherit" from, but we've picked up a good quality buggy, childseat, bouncer, cotbed, changing bag, blankets and even maternity clothes so far :j

The idea is that you offer as much as you can as well as receiving, but that's a good way of clearing space to make way for baby stuff too. And it's all FREEEEEEEE!

Hi it all depends on the length of your normal cycle. If you cycle is 28 days (normal) long then you would ovulate around day 14, which would mean you are most fertile for approx 3 days prior to this and the day of ovulation. I found the best way was to take my temp every morning before I get out of bed and monitor cervical mucus. The day you ovulate your temp will rise and then stay up either until your period arrives when it drops or stays up if you are pregnant.

I used fertility Friend a US website to log all my details, it tells you when you are most fertile, the chance of you getting pregnant that cycle based on how often you had sex (Baby Dancing (BD) as it calls it) and when the best time to test is. We had been trying for 4 month before I started temping and managed to fall pregnant the first month when temping.

    Best of luck.

Like Welshlassie says, it depends on your cycle as to when your most fertile time is. When we started trying, I read loads of info about how to work out the best time and concluded that the easiest way to make sure you don't miss your most fertile time is to make sure you don't have any gaps of longer than three days between having sex. Having said that, hitting the fertile time is no guarantee that you will conceive and obviously the more times you try within the fertile time, the more chance you have. I agree about some info seeming to be conflicting which is why I decided not to bother trying to work out exactly when my fertile time was. I also figured it would be more relaxing and we would be less concerned about it if we didn't know for definite when it was the fertile time.

Hi Fishcake and Lesley, find the very last copy of the club list and add yourselves in :)

On getting stuff cheap - I didn't get round to going to car boot sales or going on ebay but in the last few weeks I've raided my local charity shops and got stacks of clothes and moses basket/cot bedding. I think in all I've probably spent about £40 but it means I've got stuff for 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-9 months, from all different brands, from Cherokee to George, M&S and Mothercare. One little top and trousers set which cost 20p is Cherokee, almost identical to something I'd already spent £10 in Tesco and still has the tags on it, never used!
Plus I feel really good that I'm helping out my local charities :j

(As I don't know Peanut's sex, it's all in neutral colours or blue - I figured while a girl in the future probably won't mind seeing herself in boyish clothes in her baby photos a boy might object to having been put in pink :D )

    Hi All

Can anyone recommend some decent maternity pants?

Pre pregancy I am was a size 18, and everything I've seen has been for beanpoles with bumps.

I bought 2 pairs from Mothercare, the Jeans type with an elastic waist band, and they fall down when I walk ( not a good look!) and roll down when I sit, ( not great when getting out of the car), flashing large bump to all and sundry!

the only thing that fits and is comfy is jogging bottoms from evans, which are fine but not exactly the picture of sartorial elegance.

I am 24+ weeks now and bump feels huge but won't keep pants up.

Can't wait to finish work, on feet all day, so going at 31 weeks, 2 weeks of which are holidays so only 5 weeks left really - Hurrah

Must get on Weight loss thread after delivery, my wedding ring barely fits on my little finger at the moment, and is a full diamond band so cannot be resized

Got pregnant on wedding night, so only wore ring for 6 weeks before it became too tight!

have not been on chat room for a while so congrats to all new Mums and new Mums to be, fingers crossed for all TTC ladies.

No idea how good it is, but I noticed that M&S have maternity clothes when shopping with my friend, I've just checked on the web and they go up to a 20 so you should be able to fiddle with the sizes to get something that fits well!

I have trouble keeping trousers up too (big bump, narrow hips!), I bought some in M&S that are almost like yoga trousers (stretchy all over), but made from very nice material that makes them hang like normal trousers. I also bought some in Dorothy Perkins, which are ruched around the top (think 1970's sundress), which also don't fall down too much. They looked horrible on the hanger, but once you put a nice top over them, you can't see the ruching, and they look really smart.
