hi all, this is a fantastic thread. just wish i was a member a year ago when my wife was pregnant. although she has found netmums quite useful.
erm, dont know if this has been mentioned before, but odeon cinema have a mums and babies session during the week where you can go and watch a film at cinema and take ure babies/toddlers. you pay normal price and little un gets in free. so a bit of a freebie i guess. lights are raised and sound not as loud to make it baby friendly. certainly here in leicester its quite good.
also look out for surestart in your area for free parent and toddler groups where you can go along and let your baby play in presence of other babies and you can have a cup of tea with other parents. there are play speciailists on hand usually to watch over all the babbies. useful as well to meet other mums in your area for a bit of moral support. good for the kids too mind. and dads can go along too.... so no excuses!Sorry but please keep your signature to 4 lines in length - MSE Forum Team 20 -
oh, and dont forget your bounty packs at the hospital!!!
bit of an old style thrift thing, but if your baby is overdue and comes out with dry skin, use olive oil on them rather than buying moisturisers and skin products and all that nonsense. olive oil is more natural and does a great job. just dont take lil un too near the cooker!!!!Sorry but please keep your signature to 4 lines in length - MSE Forum Team 20 -
Can I join the pregnancy club:D
Not sure until I get the scan if the due date is the 1st or the 7th of July, but I'm hoping to have the baby on the 7th - how easy would that DOB be to remember - 07/07/07:rotfl: I will add to the list when I get confirmation.
Anyway, have 2 boys at the moment, aged 7 and 18 months - the wee one is a terror and has me running about daft, so not much chance to take things easy lol.
Nice to see all the posters (good luck to you all x) - and have noticed some fab tips already.:DCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Hi all.
Been lurking on this site for ages now and this i my first post.
Im 28+5 days pregnant and expecting a boy!. DD 27/02/07 but more likely to be before then because i have medical complications so consultant said if i don't go into labour by 39 weeks i'll have to to have a c section. This is my second pregnancy, my dd is 15 months old so i'm having a bit of a hard time at the moment. She won't stay still for longer than 5 minutes!.
I think i may be suffering from SPD i have pelvic pain, it really hurts when i open my legs, try to turn in bed and when i walk too much. I have been to a group pregnacy session run by my hospital they gave me some brief advice and taught me pelvic thrusts and pelvic floor exercises but doesn't seem to be helping much. Can someone advise.
A few of my tips are:
1. Disposable Nappies my Lidl. (they only do size 3,4 and 5 i think) i find them just as good as some of the shop own brands i.e boots. They have a wetness indicator on the outside of the nappy so you don't have to take of the nappy to check if its wet, my dd can wear them all night for up to 12 hours with no leaks and at £5.29 for 50-56 depending on what size they are a bargain. Plus sometimes they go on offer for £4.29! + sensitve baby wipes 99p of 80 wipe and they are thick!
2. While you baby is young (before 6 months) don't bother with loads of expensive fancy outfits they grow so quick they probably won't wear half of them. Stick to cotton babygros with a few outfits for outings. you can get reasonable valuepacks from places like primark, peacocks, asda, tesco, etc.
3. Buy as much as you can in the sales. I've hardly bought any clothes for baby no 2 yet i am holding on til the jan sales. Just remember what seasons to buy for and how old they will be then.
4. Make homemade food at least some of the time. It helps your baby get used to the type of food the family eats. You can make up big batches and freeze. It saves a packet compared to already made baby food and is alot better for you baby.
5. Moses basket are good but not essential if you have already got a cot. Baby can only sleep in them for @ three months less if you have a big baby.
hope this helps someone
Good luck everyone

Hi everyone
Can't find myself on here, thought I'd added myself but it must be all those hormones scrambling the brain! So I've added myself properly this time. D'you think all these pregnancies are a result of money saving?! I mean, needing some way of keeping those fuel bills down (got to keep warm somehow!), or saving money on not going out so much but still need some form of evening entertainment?
Sorry!

Just thought I'd mention the Babies R Us baby club. They sign you up to their loyalty scheme, but it's worth joining for the money-off coupons. :money:
We used one for money off bedding (think it was £10 off when you spend £60) and got another for £5 when you spend £30. There are also vouchers for money off prams, cots, toys, clothes etc and they send them at regular intervals. Good if you were going to buy from there anyway - we found the bedding pretty reasonable.
Sign up via the website - https://www.toysrus.co.uk
Welcome to all the new clubbers! And cheapskate - I'd love to say that keeping warm was my excuse, but we were on holiday in Goa when I got pregnant. Still, we were both ill and spent quite a bit of time confined to the room (infamous deli belly) so perhaps it was the boredom. As my mum pointed out - we can't have been that ill can we?!! :T
Davina - if you don't want a C section it might be worth looking into reflexology. I've been going for a few months and it is meant to help with an easier labour, plus bringing on labour if you need this. I've posted details before, but get in touch with the Association of Reflexologists and find someone who specialises in ante-natal. They do a search in your area via their website - https://www.aor.org.uk - Worth a try if you want to avoid surgery, esp. with a little one running around!MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Thanks Lu T for the advice on reflexolgy. Not to keen on feet especially my own and hate the thought of someone touching mine. But I will give it some thought cos i already had a c section with dd and don't really want another one.
Please can you tell me a bit more about it and the average cost per session.
Thanks
Also adding my dd to the list

If you're considering real nappies (ie. non-disposables) I'd look into them before you have your baby. There are lots of different types out there and it takes a while to do all the necessary research - so it's worth planning ahead.
I've used a combination of Tots Bots and Easy Peasy Bumbles - used with Motherease Airflow wraps - they've been great: rarely leak, nice and comfy and they've saved me a load of money (not to mention the fact that it helps the environment).
I got a lot of valuable advice from https://www.lizziesrealnappies.org.uk.0
