  • YER got last one at Congleton - looks pretty lean too like a big lump with little bits jammed on one side lol.

Will report back later - gamon, beetroot and mash with cheese sauce - erm sounds weird but think will be nice :)

Cooked mine in the steamer - didn't know if it would work but it was delicious and it didn't crumble or fall apart when I sliced it.

I've just put this Tesco gammon joint in the slow cooker. It's 1.2 kg.

How long should I cook it on high.. the full 6 hours?

I've just popped mine in too.
I'm using the Nigella recipe, and bought treacle, peppercorns and mustard powder yesterday also. A quick question - Nigella's recipe seems to suggest you use 2l of coke whilst cooking? Is this correct? There's no way 2l will fit in my slow cooker once the gammon is in. I've filled it up to the level of the gammon, is this right or wrong? A bit confused here :o

Well I only added 1/2 pint of cider, don't usually add much liquid to a slow cooker, as none is usually lost, I certainly wouldn't add 2l. Mine has been on for about 1/2hr so will be trying it for dinner tonight.

    Hi,
I just bunged mine in the slow cooker with a can of full fat coke and the lid on and cooked it for about 8 hours, it was delicious! Great value for a midweek meal or 3 as we had it that night, the following night cold with egg and chips and for a few sandwiches as well.

    Enjoy :)

I got mine cheap from the Co-Op. Half price joints of gammon for £5.
Mine's been cooking all morning on low on the hob. Kept changing the water so it doesn't taste as salty.
Now it's in the oven browning off with just some honey of the top.
We're having ours with chips, peas and brocolli (the kids love "little trees"). Egg for me, Pineapple for the others.
