Gotta be honest, that sounds too cheap for any quality meat.

I think you're right - I'm sure these 'joints' are reformed, too much dodgy meat and fat for me:rotfl:. I bought a bacon loin joint in sainsburys this morning, 900g for £5.00 which seems expensive compared to the offers reported on here, but I know it's just one peice of VERY lean meat and it goes a long way :). Interesting to hear how everyone cooks theirs tho!

I went shopping today and forgot this :( Does anyone know how long the offers on for?

The best thing to do is cook it for tomorrow. When it's cooked, bind it nice and tight with clingfilm, then put it in the fridge overnight. It'll slice much better and still be very moist.
I usually do mine on top but might do this one in the sc when it arrives later, but not sure how long/how high to cook it?

Thanks for posting this. I thought it was the smaller half size ones, but they're really big! Got one this evening and picked one up for my dad too. For £3.50 they're worth a try - i've stuck mine in the freezer for now.

They're ok I remember the same offer they had a year or so back, I got one for my mother in law. I think they were £3.59 then.

What's the above post all about? Is this spam? Sorry if I'm being thick but I can't see what it's got to do with gammon!

Great post by the way OP!

I bought one of these i my weekly shop on monday, and i am another 'bung it in the oven' people until i read this thread yesterday.
So I decided to try it in the slow cooker, I put it in at about 11.30 am on high and as it was cooking so well I turned it down to low at about 1pm ish. I put a little bit of water in the bottom, about half a cup, and also sliced some carrots into batons and put those in too. Served it at 5.30pm and it was delicious, easy to carve and some gammony carrots to boot.
Maybe it could have had 4-5 hours on high, I will experiment again next time, but for a first attempt it was a success, even the kids liked it
Unfortunately there's not enought for tomorrow dinner as the kids kept picking at it while I was trying to serve it out!! :rotfl:

it cooks using the steam from the little bit of liquid and some that will come out of the meat as it cooks, so no need to cover the whole meat.
