Best gammon ever

I'm sure these joints are excellent value and, cooked properly, they will be fine. However, I think the description 'Gammon Ham' is a bit misleading - tome, that implies a 'proper' joint odd a cured pig. These are certainly reformed meat made out of squashed together bits and pieces rather than proper joints of solid ham.
They are still good value and worth buying - so long as you know what you are butying!ELITE 5:2

I ordered a plain one and a smoked one for my order today and they had run out so they sub it with a larger one 1.8 I think so im well happy. We always coverin honey and mustard cover with tin foil and roast for a couple of hours and its lovely, even the kids like it which is always a bonus. Thanks to the op0

No offence but that sounds vile lol, I only ever cook it in coke or just slow cooked and always have it with mashed potato and cabbage. Even the kids love it.
Gammon and eggs is a great british classic - admittedly the tinned stuff is a bit wierd but I was brought up having it with bangers or bacon so was a match for me.
The oven roast method for the gammon gives a medium moist/dry rather than mushed up consistency you lot are aiming for (ive tried it in the slow cooker and prefare this from the oven).
Gonna have sarnies and some pea and ham soup today from the half ive got left in fridge -- so value for money all round - fed two adults and two half pints.
Ps Dont do a full chicken in the slow cooker as someone mentioned you,ll end up with a geletinous/greasy mess.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives.:j0 -
I tried this recipe the other night.
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3...ard-glazed-ham
Tried to make soup from the stock but wasn't impressed.
I'd like to make a nice thick broth has anyone got any good recipes?0 -
I take the juice from the gammon throw away the fat if any
Put the juice in a big pan
ADD
carrots
onions
leeks
celery
turnip
any veg you like in your soup
Keep adding water so it doesn't dry out
( I buy a country mix from sainsbury which has barley, lentles, peas, etc in I put 2 tablespoons in) I take the peas out as I dont like them)
cook for about half hour till veg soft .
I add Potatoes and all the bits off Gammon that fall off joint
When potatoes are done THATS YOUR SOUP you have it as thick or as watery as you like by adding water sometimes I add a veg stock cube HOMEMADE SOUP x
