I'm trying to get on board with flylady, but finding it difficult to maintain the momentum... I have been decluttering for most of last year, a control journal and can usually stick to the cleaning for about a fortnight, and then suddenly I think, oh well, my house looks fine, it won't matter if I miss a day... and then suddenly it's back to [STRIKE]normal[/STRIKE] being completely messy...

Does anyone have any tips to sticking with it and not backsliding? How did you get past the idea of cleaning when it looks clean?!

    Any tips gratefully received!

Sorry I did not reply to this because I don't know the answer:o

It rings so true with me too. I like my house lovely but it takes me so long that I don't have time to do all the other things like gardening.

All I can say is that if I do let it slip for a week (like now with the builders in) then I know that it will take less time to get it back on track.

I am much better at doing my daililes (washing/ironing/washing up/swish&swipe toilets and sinks) and having a quick hoover around.

My dailies take approx 1 hour a day.
I have tried saying ok I will also do one hour in the designated room and that can work well too.

    Morning all.

I was hoping to declutter the garden today but it is absolutely tipping it down (forecast was dry and bright )

I am going to try an complete the bedroom and bathroom lists then might get the shopping out of the way.

    Morning all

Soappie - I hope you have hot water, glad your DD is recovering well and loving you making use of NN badge.

Jill - sorry you felt ignored sweetie. I know lots of the flyladies have 'stuff' going on right now and are not spending as much time on here. You looked and worried for a long time for 'a reason' with your DS and I'm sure you'd hoped it was just his way, well it is, there are just other people who are like that too and they have a name for it. I really hope things move forward for you all and that you can get the support you all need (how is DH coping with it all now) Love to you all x

Off to the shower and then flying today will be just my dailies. Still working on the decluttering and DH and I have a huge list of stuff that needs doing re the building work etc.

Still can't decide whether to go to IKEA today or not.

But I was so pleased to be able to have her over without the usual manic week of emergency cleaning which used to leave me exhausted before she even arrived..... To all those newbies who are struggling, do keep going because it really does get easier.

    Hello all!

This week has been very hectic! On Monday, my colleague and I were in school until 7pm!!! This was because the person who had ordered the coach for our school trip that was on Tuesday, hadn't ordered one with enough seats this time, and so we had to call a couple of the parents and ask them if they could meet us there instead. Head said to us "don't let them know that you messed up, just tell them the coach company had to change the coach" - I was fuming, as it wasn't us who had messed up, as we'd given the woman the exact number of children who would be going, and she knows the ratio of adults to children as we had a trip last term! One of the parents was a governor, so it didn't look very professional at all! Also on the trip, my colleague kept on disappearing without telling us where she was going, which left me in charge of 10 parent helpers and the entire year-group, as she also didn't answer her phone when I called her! I was very relieved when it was all over. I also had a nasty incident with head on the morning of the trip, because a parent of one of the children in my class turned up to help, and I hadn't known she was coming (she's not even CRB checked to my knowledge), but of course, it was my fault that she'd come, and the head made me apologise to her in front of my class and another parent helper, for the mix up! Yet again, I'm being told off for not being psychic! The rest of the week didn't go too badly - only 4 weeks to go until the holidays! Woohoo!!!

Still don't know yet whether I'll have to stay until the end of April or whether I can go on 16th. There have been loads of candidates looking around for the 2 jobs that have been advertised for September (poor sods), and head doesn't seem to have advertised for my job, which is worrying!

Got quite a hectic weekend this weekend too, as my Mum and Dad have gone on holiday, so I've got to feed their cat whilst they are away. I also have to do my Nan's food shopping, and it's my MIL's 70th birthday lunch tomorrow.

Good news is the house isn't looking too bad after last week's thorough clean, so it's mainly going over surfaces, hoovering and doing washing that have to be done.

Haven't taken any marking home with me, as I'm going to concentrate on creating my interactive display for my lesson observation (15th March) and on the literacy plan.

    Another hectic week ahead:

Monday after school - Year 6 Sats tuition (3.15-4.15) followed by Business meeting (4.15-5.00)
Tuesday after school - Staff meeting (3.30-4.30) followed by Parents Maths workshop (6.00-7.30)
Wednesday - finish planning for Around the World week
    Thursday - Key Stage 2 meeting (3.15-4.15)
Friday - setting up interactive display and moving my furniture back into my classroom after the building work

    Hope everyone is well,

    sexymouse xx

Still can't decide whether to go to IKEA today or not.

My favourite time to go is at around 6pm on a weekday evening. It's always nice and empty then. I'll have to go myself soon - DS1 needs black blankets/throws to finish off his room, I've broken a few dinner plates and last weekend I broke one of my two favourite wine glasses (DH has started to drink wine, too, so I'd like another). I got them for 50p each, so hoping for another bargain. Looking at the budget for this month, though, it will have to be after the 26th (pay day).

    Morning everyone.

A wet day here but never mind at least there is no snow. Ive put a mix of stuff in the slow cooker I only hope it tastes ok. Its chicken thighs and legs with mushrooms peppers and onions and a tin of tomatoes. I put a sauce in that was lounging in the cupboard with mixed herbs.

Ive started dailies and I find music helps me. Im playing the new cd My Songs and Ive danced around the kitchen. I try to do 10 mins in each room a day and stay on top of the flying. Doesnt always work though. It does get easier and a bit more manageable. Hope no one can see a older woman with her ipod in dancing round lol Need to do the bathroom later as Im going to see mum this morning.

I have a dilemna and would like your thoughts please. A few weeks ago the son of the woman next door came to get some of his belongings. They could not get it all the car so I said he could leave the tv in my kitchen and come back. Nearly 5 weeks later its still here. I have seen him twice and said I want it out. I got the estate agent to ring him about it. GS2s girlfriend has spoke to his girlfriend and told her as well. The estate agent says they are coming with a skip to get the rest of the stuff out and Ive told my DD the tv is joining it but she says I cant do that. Any thoughts please.

Soappie Well done and hot water vibes.
    Kalojac Hugs.
