    HI
I am new to this and just finding links to the different threads. I have just entered a load of puzzler competitions from the puzzler thread and some of the TAB puzzles. Is there links for the weekly mags like TAB and Thats life etc?? If so where would I find them?
    Many thanks
    Ruth

I post the That's Life, Pick me Up, Full House every week..

Find all threads started by korkythekat

Real People is posted every week by hjb123..

I am sorry that a lot of you feel that I have been slacking in my Bg duties, I can assure you I am on most days and trying to plough through as much as I can but I have had a hell of a time at home at the moment.

In April we lost our Dad, he died in singapore very unexpectedly with no ill health at all. This was obviously a huge shock as I didnt expect to lose my dad when he was only 65. Due to the volcanic ash situation we could not get my mum and dad home straight away adding to pressures.

My mum has had to move country, move house and deal with losing her husband and best friend of 45 years. As I am sure you will realise this comps board has been way way down on my 'to do' list.

I am still about most days at the least every 2 days. This comps board was actually set up by me and an old user Foxy. As I see it as my little baby, I can assure you the last thing I want is to see it go downhill in anyway.

I,for one, really appreciate the work of all the BG team. There is no doubt a lot of work behind the scenes that is not readily apparent to the general membership.
I think it was on the issue of thread merging that voices were raised. It just seemed that while Dalkirst was not on for a few days the merges rapidly backed up until people were commenting on it.
I'm sure that we are all grateful the work that you put in to this board in the past & will in the future.

    Hi Diva,

I don't think anyone was critising the job the BGs do (well i hope not!) Just the fact that as the board has grown so much maybe it would worth considering having a few extra BG to help out x

First of all I would like to thank Divadee for her PM and her message on the board, I appreciate that it couldn't have been easy for her to make comment at this difficult period in her life

I would also like to add that I wholeheartedly agree with your comments weeowen,as the BG's do do a thankless job, when the boards are running smoothly nobody makes comment or thanks them however when there is a slight glitch in the works people are quick to make comment and put them down, and yes this does include me :o,

I do feel however that the poor BG's are becoming more and more stretched in there duties as the board is becoming very popular and the towers that be should re-instate a fourth BG to help share there tedious work load

they should also maybe think of a way of remunerating them for the thankless work that they do ;)

I was criticising I'm afraid :o however in my defence I didn't realise there where mitigating circumstances when I made my comment and as soon as I found out I quickly retracted my comment
  • I'm not sure how it works, so this might be a stupid suggestion, but is it possible for someone (or a few people) to be given certain BG privileges without actually being a BG (if MSE don't want any more BG's)?

Say for example, the ability to change end dates when they're in the wrong format, or when they don't have an end date, move comps to game over, merge if you see that a merge was requested a long time ago from a post on the thread? I just thought if this was possible, then it would take some of the workload off the BG's?

Divadee, I'm so very sorry for your loss, I can completely understand that the board would be the last thing on your mind at such a difficult time. :( xx

Just wanted to add I think sometimes it's difficult, because some people have others on Facebook and Twitter etc, so know the reasons as to why people are taking a break, but not everyone has access to knowing this, so I can see it from the other side too. But I'm sure as soon as peoples situation is known about then they would feel awful for asking questions, such as Amilucky? above retracted the post when they realised the severity of the reason for the absence. Hope that makes sense. :o

    what a great idea!

not sure that the towers that be and the BG's would approve though!

I would be quite happy to help in this way as I am a full time carer at home with access to my computer 24/7 seven day's a week ;)

I download all the previous day's comps to bookmarks and often notice the many daily errors in the end dates and also comps without an end date

I just don't see why they won't have 1 or 2 extra board guides tbh :o
