Welcome to comping - a good place to start is here - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1014121

Velvet Glove has done a wonderful guide, its long, with lot of info, but well worth a read :)

I think most of us have posted dupes, so dont give up, but have a read first and it should help xx

    Hi hun,

Thanks very much for trying to post comps. It's difficult when you are new :) Just to let you know any questions like this one should be asked in the Competition Discussion sticky at the top of the board to prevent the main board getting clogged up with non comps.

The best advice I can give you is to read the Comping Guide. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1014121
It gives loads of hints and tips about comping. Including the correct format on how to post a comp as I see you have missed out the end dates from titles in the ones you have posted.

All the comps on the main board have a title E: 08/08 Win xxx xx and so on so that they can be easily sorted through date order but also because it makes it easier to see when a competition ends.

Also to avoid posting duplicates make sure you do thorough searches. If a competition is on the https://www.allaboutyou.com for example, then try searching with the shortened version of allaboutyou. Also search for keywords such as the prize or the answer. Whilst searching doesn't always eradicate the risk of posting a dupe it minimises it :) xx

Could somebody please confirm something for me. I am sure it makes sense to be on the electoral roll if comping but my partner says it makes no difference. What's the truth?

I'd imagine it makes no difference at all.Pure luck & numbers.I've only ever been asked for ID once & that was for a big holiday prize.
To increase your likelihood of winning all I can suggest is to enter more or be luckier.

I wouldn't say it makes a difference. I'm only a temporary resident at the moment and so am not on the electoral roll but I still win :) x

Yes and I don't bother entering them.

I also get irritated by competitions where you have to register and login. I know it saves time in future. But if I do come to enter another competition on the same site I usually don't remember that I'm already registered. Its then a faff logging.

I like the ones that ask for a few basic details which you can just filll your details in with Roboform.

I always wonder how many entries the competitions that I enter get.

:D oooh, would be so good if all the comps were so basic/straightforward we could all just
quick enter them :D but sometimes it's that you have to make a bit of effort entering some of them :D but if the op's have have taken time to find the answers/post the comps & it's to much 'faffing ' about logging in/entering then GREAT, more chance of one us winning who'll take time to faff about :D
please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly. k2u58ioz4c8e.png

Thank you both for your replies. I was just concerned because it says quite often that entrants have to be uk resident. We are not on it purely because we don't agree with the political system, but are still lifelong uk residents. But that nagging feeling of 'have I won something big and been turned down after a electoral roll check and not informed' will take some shifting lol. Thanks again.
