Thanks. I was thinking of something like a months pass to the local leisure centre with the idea of promoting positive behavior..and safe activities.....but i'm not a good ideas person, so thought someone on here might have some better ideas. It's for primary children also....i forgot to say :)

If I were you, I would contact a few places, such as the local leisure centre, the local zoo etc and try and get them working with you on the promotion. They would benefit from the resulting publicity and you would benefit, because they might donate the prize for free. You might even be able to get several prizes, just for listing them as sponsors on the back of your entry form.

agree that more bg's would be welcome, know when i send game overs etc when going through the whole of the monthly comps, took me days to go through it, cant recall what bg's i sent to as sent to more than 1 as split it as was a lot for 1 to go through, did find that the majority of the comps have never been sent to game over and that really annoyed me after the effort i had put in, and as people say there are lots of merges that arent being done

i am due to go through the monthlies again and dreading it tbh takes me ages, thats why i like people to let me know if a comp is game over so i can remove it but people rarely do that, then people on the thread will moan as to why there are expired comps on it:(

dalkirst does a fantastic job on here and it seems he is doing the most of the work, no wonder he gets really narked with it all at times, nothing against the other bg's though as know how hard they do work as used to be a mod on another site myself

One of the bg's is still getting over the sudden loss of her father, so obv mse isn't her priority at the moment, i'm sure she will be back on track as soon as she can be xxx

perhaps emailing the towers and thanking the current BG's but requesting some help for them might help??????

was told politely by MSE Andrea that didn't need any more BG's when she replied to my pm :)

Harsh but true, certain BG's are under-performing and not pulling there weight which is resulting in extra work for poor old dalks if they do not have the time to do there job effectively then they should really ask for help or pass the baton on to someone else

I do appreciate the thankless job that the BG's do and I also appreciate there may be mitigating circumstances particularly at this time of year, but the merge request problem has been going on for some considerable time now and in my opine dates back to when Kipper left

I have tried emailing the towers that be but they do not listen to us mere mortals :(

as said above MSE Andrea did reply but said they weren't looking for/didn't need any more BG's :)

will try to find the posts for the requests, if i recall correctly there were 3 members who put there names forward to be a BG, one was Al Mac , will go find the others :)

ETA.. flickering ember was another, can't find the other one,
but did find this which was posted just after the thread for the asking for another Bg ..

    I didn't realise,

my sincere condolences and apologies to the BG involved

and I am very sorry if I have caused you upset at a difficult time as this was not my intention

Toni do you think that I should retract what I have said in my previous post's?

    I feel awful now :o

Yeah I remember MSE Andrea posting on here saying they were grateful for all the applications but they weren't looking for another BG................but if my memory serves me right she also said that kipper could come back anytime she felt able, and perhaps this is no longer the case and they may once again look to appoint another BG

I only recently was advised by purplecatlover how to send threads to Gilla on Dailies by copying the link over and Gilla can deal with it quicker without having to trawl through all the comps. I personally don't use the daily posts but do it to help people that do.

Do you think we could adopt some sort of thing like that where as well as pressing the Expired button we also copy link over to GAME OVER thread and then the BG could pick them up quicker. Here's a foreinstance; my thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2593737 I posted comp on 14 July, on 24 July I pressed Expired and also amended comp thread so people don't even waste their time entering, as they can see straight away. I'm also going to copy link in to GAME OVER now and see if that works better. This thread is currently still showing in Competitions Threads.

I appreciate the great work the BG's do, as comping takes up so much time, let alone all the work they have to do to keep things running smoothly, but if there's anything we as individuals can do to help them we should.
