Thanks Martin's Doll x I think most people do still respect this but unfortunately there are a few who couldn't care less :(

Like you I check what I regard as 'my regular' comps sites every day only to find that the 'best' comps have been posted on the board a few minutes earlier by someone else... :(

I spend an awful lot of hours every day checking and re checking for new comps for members to enter.

    So bloomin disheartening... :(

Sorry folks, but I'm really peed off with it now after so long of 'sitting back and trying not to let get to me' when it does... :(

Why can't these newer members find their own new comp sites to post?

As per the regular competitions and their fantastic posters my feeling is that a new sticky be added which lists the regular posters, their competitions and their deputies.

I'm not perdantic (well not much anyway) but I find it comforting to see familiar trusted names listing the regular competitions, not that I'm saying that newbies aren't to be trusted, it's just you kinda build up a 'relationship' with the regulars, if you know what I mean.

    Anyway, that's my pennies worth.

i think having a list would get silly as you could also argue that you should have a list of websites that a certain person regularly posts the competitions from - it's just as much effort posting these comps as it is any other - takes me about half an hour to check through all the websites i regularly post from and i probably do that 3 times a day and i have to search MSE each time to check they haven't been posted so when other people post it feels like i'm wasting my time.

i agree that if you know someone posts the itv comp then fair enough, don't post it - but the abuse some people are getting for posting a comp is ridiculous. it's not like the itv comp even lets you enter more than 5 times so you are not going to get disqualified!

magazines comps i feel are a bit different as people are paying for them especially just to post the comps on here - i don't even do the sudoku puzzles apart from the competition one (just don't tell OH that as he pays for my subscription lol)

anyway that's my point of view x

oh and cathyj posts morning gmtv one too x

seems to me there should really be some kind of guide line on who usually posts what/which from whatever sites, but it's been said loads of times,
would a list do any good ? as it's also been said 'find it, post it'
which to me IMHO isn't very fair on the reg posters.

The thing is, it's not fair on a newbie, who has genuinely searched for a competition, to say that they can't post it because someone else normally posts from that site.

If we take that attitude, it stops new people becoming involved with the Forum.

However, that is completely different for newbies who come in and basically trawl through regular users' posts and then use those to find competitions.

It really upset me today that someone posted one of my regular comps, there were THREE comps that were put on the website at midnight, and by 1am someone had posted just ONE of these competitions which was by far a fantastic comp that would receive a lot of thanks (the other two just menial). I didn't realise for a little while & was very close to duping, which then gets HUGELY frowned upon in itself!!

It just makes me want to give up posting. I spend a few hours in a day checking each site from where I post & sometimes writing out the comps before they're posted to find someone has come and done it & it's been a waste of time & effort.

I would understand if it was a random one off comp, or I was late by a day or so, or the end date was that afternoon, but to post it a comp after an hour shows that it's intended to get straight in there.

These people are a select few though. Also today on two occasions I was sent a PM to advise me that I may have a missed a comp, and put all the details in a message for me to post, which I replied that I was having trouble & would be grateful if they would.

Why can't it work like that? It seems a much less complicated system & would save a lot of dupes & upset I think, I'm not sure people realise exactly how much effort it takes to check & post regulars :(

I completely understand with newbies & never have a problem if they post, it's not their fault as they don't yet know how the forum is, but for those who have been here 6 months plus is what's upsetting :( I know no-one owns a comp, and for the odd one here and there it's ok, but if you've spent a long time searching out competitions or spend a lot of your time going thru regulars and posting then it gets frustrating, and a little disheartening IYSWIM.

As I said, I think it all depends on how it's done.

If someone has genuinely searched for a competition, then I think they should be allowed to post it.

But, if someone is just posting the best competitions or using regular's hard work to find sites, then that is something else.

Yes, that's exactly what I am talking about :) It's those who know what you post & try to get in there before it's posted, I completely agree if people have searched and posted on their own back :) xx

Did anyone happen to make a note of the 8 digit number for the ITV competition to win tickets, tv, car and £5000. It was announced yesterday during England v Japan but I missed it. The winner will be called on Monday.
