Totally agree BMN, I like to see the comps by regular posters because I know that they have checked and double checked that the info given is correct. I have seen posts in the past, particularly with comps where there are multiple answers (magazines etc) where people have had to point out incorrect or missing information. I always believed that you had to supply exactly what the comp runner is asking for, if all that they want is a name and phone number, that is all that you must provide, or risk disqualification. There is a major comp runner at the moment where someone has started posting them instead of the usual poster and the info that they are giving disagrees with what the site asks for. I have pointed it out, but they still continue to do it.

does that mean that if they ask for name and phone number i need to cut out my addy and email addy before sending it? i have it all set up as my sig and generally (unless its a new and unknown site) send all rather than delete the bits they ahve not yet asked for.....but if that means im disqualifying myself i need to start cutting the extra bits.

I'd be interested to know which comp this is Barnabysue as I don't remember seeing your post x
:)

Purplecatlover I always do the same. I send name, address, email and telephone on each email entry. Maybe that's why I'm not winning!

It's the Shortlist email comps, they have some great prizes. All that they ask for on the site is the answer and a daytime telephone number, but the poster writes answer, address and telephone number. It may make no difference at all, but they definitely don't ask you to enter your address, they probably like to call you for that.

I can remember seeing a comp on one of the smaller sites where they specifically say NOT to send your address because of their Data Protection cover, so better to do what the site asks for IMO.

Thanks for confirming the comp- I had an inkling, but can be a little slow to catch on sometimes. I've been entering these for ever and used to just send answer, name & number, but, as you say, the Op now says address too, so had adapted my emails in light of this... :eek: Will be well hacked off if this now disqualifies me!

seems to be a bit contridictory then as the winner from here says she always puts her address in so the op said they would include it in future postings....

What if I change the wording to;

"Please email your answer, along with your daytime phone number (including name & address if desired), to competitions@shortlist.com with the subject..."

Another option would be to include a note a the end of the post to let people know why I have added name & address to the wording.

I've only had a couple of queries about it since I changed the format 6 weeks ago.

I have been posting some shortlist comps for about 7 months now & did explain the reason to you on 22nd April when you asked me the reason for the change.

I was wondering the same too and was waiting to enter a comp that had been recently posted to query this rather than bump an old post
