"Please email your answer, along with your daytime phone number (including name & address if desired), to competitions@shortlist.com with the subject..."
Another option would be to include a note a the end of the post to let people know why I have added name & address to the wording.
I've only had a couple of queries about it since I changed the format 6 weeks ago.

I have been posting some shortlist comps for about 7 months now & did explain the reason to you on 22nd April when you asked me the reason for the change.Painkiller wrote: »I have done since moneysavingsam won a Shortlist comp & had a surprise delivery due to entering their name & address.

Thanks for the explanations I had no idea about the shortlist ones. PK I think it would be a great idea to put that the address is optional, then it's up to the entrant to decide for themselves.A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0

People that post competitions regularly tend to have the sites they post comps from bookmarked and check these at least everyday. This is time consuming, having to look to see if there are new comps, check MSE and then post the competitions. I for one check all sites I regularly post the competitions from 3 times a day and this takes up a lot of my time.
But more and more often other regulars are coming along and posting competitions from these sites (and i'm sorry but this does tend to be a few individuals). In the past certain people have had the courtesy to PM if they notice that a new comp has been put on a site and I haven't yet posted it incase I just didn't notice it. But now people must be watching all sites constantly and the minute a new comp is put on the site they will jump on MSE and post it and not even give the 'regular' poster a chance - sorry I can't check every site every minute of the day - can't you at least wait a few hours if you can quite clearly see that there is a 'regular' poster??? If it hasn't been posted by the next day fine but I feel like i'm wasting my time if I'm checking sites regularly that are just going to be posted by someone else.
Now I also have to say that I don't see the difference between doing this with a 'normal' website and the ITV comps which people have been absolutely slated for for posting when they 'belong' to someone else. The arguments i've seen for it are that: 1. people watch the show specifically for the comp and 2. becuase it's on at a certain time there is high risk of duplication.
Regarding 1. - I only look at the website specifically for the comps as I'm sure do many people which takes up a lot of time. I also know exactly what time certain sites update and try and post at that time. 2. Most websites update their competitions at the same time of day/week or everyone receives the email at the same time so what's the difference between ITV and 'normal' sites especially since ITV doesn't even let you enter more than 5 times so you can't disqualify yourself?
Board Guides have said that ITV comps can't be a free-for-all but to be honest that's ridiculous when they don't care about 'normal' sites.
Regardless of whether I continue to post competitions or not, whoever does will have the same issue. This isn't about the fact that I want to post the comps, it's just annoying for anyone and a complete waste of time to check sites everyday if other people are going to randomly select some to post. If you had a complete free-for-all then there would either be tons of dupes or none would ever get posted as I doubt very much that someone has time to check every single website
This is not aimed at newbies and as I've said before the reaction that they have had for posting a certain competition is just riduiculous! It's more aimed at regulars who know that people tend to have certain websites they check to post comps from.
Anyway i'm done ranting now and sorry if i haven't explained myself very well but i'm getting stressed by this and i know i'm not the only one x
I totally agree with you here BMN...
There should be a FM who posts comps from a given website on a regular basis! Not for a member to post just 'the juiciest' comps' from any given website...
Only last year there was an 'unwritten rule' about this, but that has now gone to pot...
Regular members used to respect the fact that a certain member posted from a certain site...
That was bu**ered last year...
I'm sorry if my post here offends folks, but I'm quite sick of it to be honest...................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
