As a regular reader and not so regular poster I have been reading all the discussion about posting comps that 'regulars' post. As a regular contributor to the postal thread where, as someone a few post up comments, we have a list of who posts what, I hate to say it but that was my suggestion originally as I recall. This was not because I felt cheated for having bought a mag and then someone else posted the comps, but to try and make sure as many comps as possible could be shared by compiling a list and then having people volunteer for certain mags. Yes, I spend a fortune on mags, sometimes just for the comps, but mostly because I like reading them. I am grateful to my fellow posters who kindly step in when some of us are too busy / stressed / tired / ill to post our usuals, and on the whole I find it a very friendly thread. But it works there with the limited number of postals there are, and I don't think a list would work for the online comps as there are so many. I agree that if others post my mags I am a little frustated as I see it as my contribution and all part of my comping karma, but I work full time, and comping is my hobby, so if others want to join in, or even take some off my hands, as sweetiepie (and others!) have done on postals, I would not be too upset. But that is me, and as it has already been said, we are all different. I fully understand that for those who spend a great deal of time checking certain sites and posting all the info for the rest of us, they are going to feel a bit narked at others dipping in to post the odd 'big prize' comp. I'm not aware/bothered enough to see who the few sneaky posters are, but I agree with the suggestion of 'play fair'. However, what should be remembered is this site is not just for competitions - someone may not be a newbie to MSE but is new to the Competitions section of the forum - I was one such person at one point, and like others did feel a bit scared to post anything for fear of upsetting a regular. If you have an issue with an individual then PM them, and remember comping is supposed to be fun!!

Anyway, thats my tuppence worth - if anyone is interested and still reading! Now I should get back to the postal thread and get my mags done so no-one else can take the credit!! :D

I don't care about the thanks I get.

I often post competitions that will close soon, or are local, or are just a small prize, but I just want to give as many people as possible a chance to win something.
It is a scientific fact that your body will not absorb calories if you take it from another person's plate.

I don't really understand why people get so funny about their thanks count. I do like to see people thanking me if I post a comp, as I see it as common courtesy (I certainly thank everyone who posts a comp I enter) I don't check my thanks though and don't think I could tell you how many I have received or what my post count is (Quite high I think, as I do spend most of my [STRIKE]life[/STRIKE] time in the DFW forums) :D

Congrats on the shiny new laptop! What kind did you get? I got a purple Dell one last year and I love it!

No idea either, i thank every comp regardless of whether i enter it or not as i use as a way of keeping track of where i am so maybe i don't want them to get rid lol!

I got a dell one too but decided not to pay £30 extra for colour lol - my current one is a dell and i love it but it is old.

To add another patch of non-MSE nonsense, I also paid extra for a matching purple mouse :o

    I do love it though....

I'm the kind of person who buys a terramundi pot, saves for a bit, drills a hole in the bottom, and then leaves it sitting out looking all nice... :rotfl:
