Its just not possible to get a 10% reduction in economy when comparing different companies diesel. Supermarkets would be out of business if their fuel was in any way inferior.

Complete tosh pedalled by those who do not know better.

When I drove an Astra TD, I noticed a 12% drop in mpg when using supermarket fuel. So, yes, it is possible to see a 10% drop in mpg.

With both my Xantia and Espace, the drop was 5%
However, with my Octavia I have yet to see any difference. Maybe this is due to the electronics being better at adjusting the fuel-flow to maintain the best mpg.
Mind you, the engine will run on pure waste veg oil (I haven't tried this yet due to not having a ready supply).

Just to say Tesco diesel has destroyed my Renault diesel system but they say they have had no other complaints so we cant help.!! TESCO NORTHAMPTON DIESEL filled fom there in March/April this year contained petrol, AA say they can smell it and diesel specialists tested it, but tesco say it couldnt happen!! the garage had a TANK CLEANING set up there when i filled up, if anyone has had a fault with there car it could be caused by them please post.
If this is true & independent specialists have corroborated the initial suspicion, court action would be worth considering ;)

Always seems odd to me that ALL these "contaminated fuel" stories ALWAYS involve supermarkets (in fact, usually Tesco).

Yet the ONLY contaminated fuel I've ever had in over 25 years was petrol with water in it from an Esso station. Didn't bother telling everyone to avoid Esso though.

Can you give more details about the fuel analysis? Did the report state how much petrol was in the diesel? if so then you might have a valid complaint ASSUMING that you can prove that you didn't fill up with petrol

I can't really see how anyone could absolutely prove that?

and there's always only one or two affected... and its always a newbie posting about it..

If you stood at a Tesco petrol station for a hour you would easily see that it would be a greater number than a couple having problems :rotfl:

christ my scooter broke down last week, I say broke down, my battery completely died at a Tesco station, and there must have been 200 cars passing through whilst I waited for a recovery truck, wasn't even there for that long.

I had to replace the brake disks on my car the other month after filling up with Tesco fuel.

Seriously though OP, Tesco will not bother with any nice letters you send them. What did the fuel analysis show, and what was the fault on your vehicle?

Assuming the fuel was to blame, send them a Notice Before Action then issue a small claim against them through Moneyclaim online. Costs £25, for £3k Tesco may not even bother to defend it, if they do small claims work on balance of probabilities and it sounds like you have strong evidence.

My local Morrisons have had at least 2 misfuellings that i know of.

    I wont use them ever.

Maybe start using them when i fancy a new car or new engine?

2 misfuellings in probably thousands of deliveries. I may die from old age before they do it again.
