The box constantly freezes and you have to take the plug out to get it to work again. I rang Sky today and they wanted £159 to replace the box set. Is this right does anyone know. I was previously with ntl and they replaced the box set for free when it went wrong.
Tell them that you will cancel if you can't get it fixed because you're not willing to pay for a service that you're not receiving due to faulty equipment!
My sister did this and she got a new sky box for free!Lost lbs =

But there are a hell of a lot more people who don't come on this site/similar sites who just pay their £42.50 each month without trying to get reductions etc.. sky will definitely still be making plenty of money.

We are on normal digital. i called up to cancel saying that the programmes i prefer are on when i am at work. They came back with"would sky+ be a better package for you"
Me " yes but i cant afford it"
Sky" we will give you it for £49"
Me " let me talk to my huband about it. i will ring in later today."
I waited for around an hour called back to say NO we couldnt justify the £49 at the moment so they gave it to us for free.
Excellent!!!!

We're in the process of trying to get a sky plus box for free too - and have just had our 3 month deal that we got when signed up (£10 per month for top package) extended for another 3 months because of all the problems we had whilst trying to get the bloody thing installed due to their incompetance.
Hopefully it'll work as they did really mess up, and i'd love sky+ but don't really want to pay out £99 or more for it.

How did you word it? I emailed today and complained about having to pay more for less with the september price rise and Sky losing some premiership games and US tour golf. Even mentioned I could cancel and go to NTL/freeview just as easily. Got a reply but rather than any offer to keep me, they gave a PR reply stating Sky is investing in new technology and programmes so prices have gone up for everyone.peardrop21 wrote:i eamiled them using this address

Me too
I got the same email, waffling on as well.
Trouble is i have sky plus and its really playing up, but dont want to pay for an engineer to call.
Suppose im going to have to bite the bullet and phone them:cool:0 -
Well, we managed to get £10 a month (for the top package) until March 2007, and a sky+ box and multi room all installed for £49.
Considering the girl we spoke to last night didn't want to give any discount on the sky+ box/installation because we had the 6 months extra of £10 a month, and was saying that she was 'head office and the highest point of contact', i think we've done ok.. especially as we had £42.50 credited to the account also.
It just goes to show that it DOES matter who you speak to.. so if you're not getting any joy with the first person, it does pay to phone back and try again.Lost lbs =

Just got off the phone with a wonderful scottish woman called Berta!
She knew exactly what I was up to, gave me my full sky+ world subscription for £30 for 3 months, and credited all of the difference for this month back to my account (Including the pay per view wrestling my other half ordered worth about £20 in total) I think I could have got more, but I only wanted to do it for three months, because I want a better long term deal over chrimbo / winter when the OH doesn't get paid as much.
I didn't ask for cancellations, just did the I want to cut down, may have to cancel line.
She even said to me phone back when this finishes, and we'll offer you something else cheaper again!
I love sky! (And there uk call centre!)Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

See now I think I'm one of those unlucky peeps who can't haggle to save her life!
I've just phoned and said I'm doing a budgeting thing for our household (which is completely true) and can't justify £26 a month on Sky. The guy said he could take off the Disney Cinemagic which would then cut it to £21. I said that I feel I'm not getting value for money and am looking on the net for other digital deals, he asked which and I said NTL, he then told me that NTL get Sky programmes to air and any repeats I'm seeing on Sky I'd see on NTL!!!!
So I said that I 'really feel I need to cancel as I'm not getting value for money' and then he put me thru to cancellations but obviously had a chat with the lady beforehand.
I went thru it again with this nice scots lady who tried to sell me the broadband and talk packages!!! I said I'd look into them as they do sound good but going 'back to the Sky tv if I can't get offered some kind of deal I really feel I need to go elsewhere' etc - so she then offered me half price on what I currently have so £9 for 3 months, no Sky + deal, no multi-room deal - that's it LOL!
I will have a look into their talk deal as it sounds good and I'm currently paying Pipex Homecall (that's another story) £9.99 line rental + £6.25 anytime calls, plus £1. odd for caller display.
So I would be better off paying £10.50 line rental + £5 anytime calls with Sky, I'm not sure about broadband though - has anyone got Sky's broadband?
I currently have 2MB with Pipex for £14.99 uncapped and can use peer-2-peers. With Sky I'd pay £10 for 16MB uncapped (fair usage which I don't overuse anyway) so again I'd be better off with Sky - but first I'd like to see if anyone got Sky broadband to get any feedback on what the service is like.
Thanks in advance
Lisa
