teacup wrote:Hi I Am tied in with sky for a year currently got movies/ sports etc for £34.00, but I would like to get rid of it and go to the basic pack, as I dont think I would be able to reduce what I am paying down any further than £34.00 otherwise I would keep it just to have. Will they let me go to the basic pack if I am contracted in or does that mean I am contracted in and have to have movies , sports etc till it runs out
many Thanks
If they wont give you a half price deal then you can change to any package that you like without penalty. If at first you don't succeed - destroy all evidence that you tried.0 -
Hi many thanks for your replys , will they chop and change even if I am contracted in to have had that package ?? also without being greedy!( with really). What is the chances of me keeping the movies / sports etc and getting a reduction further??( bearing in mind I got it down to £32 from being at £42.00. Either way I dont mind getting rid of movies / sports and I dont mind keeping it. If I do this what angle would I take when phoning up
Bearing in mind I am contracted in
Many thanks from inexperienced skyer
Was not sure from your reply wether you meant contracted
many thanks again
to be honest I am paying £32.00 for movies from sky / about £38.00 phone bill from ntl( which it seems I dont use much and we think this is a lot as we dont use it). Also £14.99 for broadband with NTL.
Any ideas to reduce this we bought a hdtv for when we get high definition (if) looks a bit dear really.

Sparky67 wrote:Is there a particular email address - our Sky account is in the OH's name and he won't ring up and haggle! He's tried to add my details to the account so I can ring and do it (being less embarrassed about trying to save a few pennies!) but they won't do it. Now stuck with £42.50 a month!
If I can email that would be good!
i eamiled them using this address
skydigital@bskyb.com
i was too scared to ring and got a reply the next day of 3 months half price0 -
Just phoned them up and got half price for the next three months.
What happens when the 3 months is up? Can you do it again, and get another 3 months half price??>0 -
Thanks Peardop - I've emailed them, and will post the result in due course!0

RickHoughton - I suggest giving them a call at the end of the three months, and let them know that you're not in a position to pay for the full subscription and that you feel you need to cancel. They are then likely to offer you a further three months at half price, or as they've just done with me, offer 5 months at half price! Make a note when your current half price deal runs out....and good luck.;)0 -
The only thing that scares me about phoning Sky are their WEIRD accents

Phoned them up as I was just coming off a half price for 3 months deal. Conversation roughly went -
me - 'just started my own business and the increased cost of coming off that deal coupled with their price rises meant i can't afford it'
sky - 'will you miss sky'
me - 'well yeah, especially the sky+, but I just cant afford £37 a month'
sky - 'ok well how about we extend that offer for another 3 months'?
me - 'yeh ok then'
sky - 'that takes you to November so if you're still in the same position then, phone us back and we'll see what we can do'
me - 'perfect, thanks very much'
That'll be another £55 saved in 3 months

Oh yeah, and I tried the 0800 number, entered 3 random 4 digit numbers followed by star and option 1 and got straight through so was only about 4 mins into call when I got that deal

I phoned up last tuesday and told them I wanted to cancel due to financial reasons. They offered me 20% off per month for the whole year. I also got rid of the movies as I never watch them. Works out at 29.60/month

All these offers are for current customers, are there any better offers than the ones i've seen here for new customers?0
